Favourite Metal band?

Not another Slipknot fan...the world has to many of them! No offense, Riven.

Too many Slipknot fans? Great bands attract a lot of attention, I guess.

Megadeth, Static-X, Korn, and RATM are right up there with Slipknot, though, if I was pressed to pick a different one. My all time favorite band, though, is coughbonjovicough.

Immortal is actually quite famous and Children of Bodom and Cradle of filth are excellent reprezentants of their genres (although I don't quite like this kind of metal much).

I'd just like to interject here that Children of Bodom and Cradle Of Filth are incredibly poor representants for their genres. As far as I can think of, power metal with black metal vocals is very unusual and Children of Bodom is the only major band to develop such a form making their sound quite unique. And Cradle of Filth are pushing the boundaries of Black Metal and sound NOTHING like original black metal bands such as Burzum or Mayhem or even the strain of Black Metal which they are following started by Emperor. They are brilliant bands and two of my favourites but I can sympathise with any black metal fan who accuses Cradle of Filth of having sold out.

I couldn't stand Slipknot's first album but then I bought their latest and fell in love with Duality. Anyone who can make such an extreme sound, so catchy deserves credit, in my opinion.

I was actually expecting a lot more System of a Down fans on here since they are the biggest Nu Metal band by far over here in the UK. Are they not as big over in the US?

I have never heard of Demon Hunter, Luke Wolf, do they have a soundalike whom I might know of? Are they quite well known? What kind of metal do they play?

Most of what people call "metal" is not true metal.

Metallica is the best metal band in my opinion. And Justice for All and Ride the Lightning are my favs, but the black album is close aswell. St.Anger wasnt that bad though, clearly wasnt there best, but it was alright.

I have never heard of Demon Hunter, Luke Wolf, do they have a soundalike whom I might know of? Are they quite well known? What kind of metal do they play?

Demon Hunter is more of a power/black metal group. There guitars have some unique sounds, so I really cant compare them to any other groups. The lead singer has the type of scream groups like COB have, but a deeper voice. As for being well know, there not. There the one underground group I listen to that very few of the people I know have heard of. Actually, only one of my friends have heard of them. COB is actually easier to find, espicially now that Best Buy sells thier cds.
