Feeling Brave--Ask ssainhu Some Questions

melk

First, I'd like to tell you that I love your posts. Even being a agnostic, today, you do more for Islam than most of its followers.
I've also visited your blog, where you tell us of your personal struggle with a grave desease. Did 't you get help from a religion or a philosophy to pass through this hard road?

  • Thank you for your kind words. :D It means a lot to me to know my posts are of value. Greatly appreciated.
  • Also, thank you for reading my blog; I had a rough 2013 with the hip labrum repair and hyperparathyroidism. I did not have Graves disease, however. My thyroid was very temporarily out of whack following the parathyroidectomy I had in April 2013. I had a single adenoma (benign) on one of the four parathyroids, which control the calcium levels in your blood and urine. A lot of people confuse the thyroid and parathyroid, so no worries.
  • I got through those tough times with a supportive family and friends. In addition, I haven't lost all faith in something bigger than us, I just have no idea who or what that is! :D It seems to change for me every day.

Ohhh, sorry @melkisedeke! That confusion between diseases is made so often I thought that's what you meant! As you know, Graves disease is hyperthyroidism, which is what most people confuse with what I had. Thanks for your kind thoughts. :D

Peace be on you.

1- Thanks for answers.
2- ".....type of Islam I keep being surrounded......" Now you know the other type of Islam (Ahmadiyya Muslims. You and God are the ones, there is none is in between) you can pray to God directly for guiding you. This way, will bring Certainty as one believes.
3- No human can send people to hell?...Who knows what is in the heart of your mother or father.....I wish the first entry to hell should be of those fanatics rigids senseless pseudo believers whose conduct drive people away from the kind beautiful and loving model of Holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
4- If your surrounding do not harm you, please sometime listen to live friday sermon of Ahmadiyya Khalifah, which come live at 1.00 pm GMT on friday at mtaDOTtv (or recordings at alislamDOTorg).....And see you still feel about Islam as you have been!

Thank you for your thoughts; can we keep this to asking questions though? This isn't a thread for trying to reconvert me or convince me to choose any religion. ;)

Sure...since name of Islam came thus it so happened. I was trying to show there is other Islam too!
So the next question, as you permitted:

Q: You felt some uneases in your path, there were some questions which kept you uneasy. Will not this happen to your children?

(sorry for any inconvenience)

  • We can never know what path our children will take. All we can do is guide them with morals and hope for the best. After all, the essence of religion is morality. The rituals are just methods of worship.

@DawudTalut Thank you. I am blessed with a loving, caring family. :)

@Jayhawker Soule I love a good burger, lots of pastas, and hot fudge sundaes are yum. :p

Of course I like Indo-Pak foods too, but we've discussed that before. :)

  • I do watch movies on occasion, but I'm more of a series kind of gal. :D I like comedy and "who-dunnit" type movies.

@ssainhu

I have a couple more questions for you. :)

1.) Which streams/sects of Islam take the Qu'ran more mystically or Esoterically? Rather than strictly literal?

2.) Likewise, which streams/sects of Islam are more neutral (if not necessarily pro) towards LGBT? If any?

@StarryNightshade

  • Sufis!! They are much more spiritual than Sunnis; Sufism is very much focused on purification of the heart and less focused on ritualistic practice.

  • Unfortunately, I don't know of any sect of Islam that is accepting of LGBT... I do, however, know of Muslims who are accepting, but it's their personal acceptance, not a religious-based one.
@BSM1

  • Nope, I do not stutter.

1. What could possibly motivate someone to work as hard and as long as you have for this place for free? Are you completely nuts?

2. Do you really believe in the Mystical Christmas Monkey of Yore, or are you just humoring me because you're a nice person?

3. What's the weather like where you are?
