Hi everyone. I'm new here. I'm a Baha'i not a Muslim. Our object is the unity of humanity. This article by this so called professor is not showing up on any credible websites and all websites are quoting one source Zee News an Indian website,. Couldn't find anything on credible news sites such as cnn, bbc, or Fox News etc. the only websites that seem to be going with this are anti Muslim websites.
First I've studied the Quran for 40'years. The Quran forbids sex outside marriage even to a woman captured in war. Someone is deliberately spreading hate propaganda to cause prejudice between east & west.
Whether Jew, Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist or non believer we are all human beings. Let's not hate on each other or react hateful by demonising propaganda.
I love MUSLIMS and all humanity. Let's all grow up and see with our own minds and not be manipulated to think evil about our fellow human beings.
Muslims are good people. The small number who disgrace their religion get enormous press? Why? Think about it please. I appeal to you all to love all humanity, all religions and all races and ignore those who seek to divide us against each other. Some English translations are omitting 'marriage' but proper translations say that a marriage contract must be made and not a lovers agreement or illicit sex, servant or free women the same.

Not true. Muhammad instructed his followers to have sex with their slave girls. No marriage was necessary. The quotes are already in this thread.
There's nothing I can do if you want to believe incorrect translations and interpretations.

Yes, sure, Arabic is an untranslatable language. It is curious that Allah chose the only untranslatable language on Earth to propagate his universal language. LOL.
Crypto there are plenty of English translations but they are not all accurate. Some say 'contract must be entered into before sex and others say nothing (that is the one that's used to defame Islam) and other translations clearly say 'marriage first with a dowry free woman or captured, and permission from parents. I have about 7 Qurans. Same with the verse that's translated not to make friends with Christians or Jews. The English word used is friends but in Arabic it means also allies and protectors and moral following so the verse correctly translated would be something like do not take Christians and Jews as political allies or follow their moral,code but ordinary friendship is not meant. The English translators who only used 'friends was either incompetent or lazy or didn't have access to a good english Arabic dictionary. But you pick this up when you cross read several English translations. Of course those who attack Islam use the translation that can best reinforce their bias but it's grossly unjust.
Next beating ones wife. Again the Arabic word used is DARAB which has 100 definitions. Many translators chose beat or hit but Muhammad never beat his wives but left them alone. One of the meanings of that word is to separate and separate is intended. The Quran doesn't teach evil or violence. Prejudiced people know that and deliberately mislead naive readers who don't research.
Example. Sura 2:191 'kill them wherever you find them' sounds awful doesn't it? However why do they deliberately not quote the verse before which says 2:190 do not attack unless attacked first. God loves not such injustice'!!!! They deceive people into believing that Islam is offensive when the law of the Quran strictly only permits self defense. Why this misinformation?
If there's nothing to hide why do they hide some verses and show others and hide some translations but choose those translations which best are able to say the Quran is evil??
Let's put everything on the table. Why do detractors fear that? Because then they would be exposed that's why. So they put these quotes out of context and translations suited to their purpose and then put up a news clip of a terrorist attack!!!!! How evil and insidious!!!!!!!

In other words check what is being said or you are very likely going to be UNKNOWINGLY manipulated and it's frightening to see just how many hate on Muslims likely 99% never ever checked the facts or just did it scantily.
I know through my own knowledge and refuse to blindly believe these so called 'experts' who are dishonest at best.
We want unity and all humanity to have peace. Those spreading deceptively concocted half truths and exaggerations want nothing more than for us to hate 1.6 billion Muslims.

I don't know if you are utterly ignorant about Islam or if you are purposely trying to deceive the people in this forum. The fact is that you are always wrong about Islam and Muhammad. For example, you said that Muhammad never beat his wives. This is utterly FALSE!

Muhammad b. Qais said (to the people): Should I not narrate to you (a hadith of the Holy Prophet) on my authority and on the authority of my mother? We thought that he meant the mother who had given him birth. He (Muhammad b. Qais) then reported that it was 'A'isha who had narrated this: Should I not narrate to you about myself and about the Messenger of Allah (may peace be upon him)? We said: Yes. She said: When it was my turn for Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon him) to spend the night with me, he turned his side, put on his mantle and took off his shoes and placed them near his feet, and spread the corner of his shawl on his bed and then lay down till he thought that I had gone to sleep. He took hold of his mantle slowly and put on the shoes slowly, and opened the door and went out and then closed it lightly. I covered my head, put on my veil and tightened my waist wrapper, and then went out following his steps till he reached Baqi'. He stood there and he stood for a long time. He then lifted his hands three times, and then returned and I also returned. He hastened his steps and I also hastened my steps. He ran and I too ran. He came (to the house) and I also came (to the house). I, however, preceded him and I entered (the house), and as I lay down in the bed, he (the Holy Prophet) entered the (house), and said: Why is it, O 'A'isha, that you are out of breath? I said: There is nothing. He said: Tell me or the Subtle and the Aware would inform me. I said: Messenger of Allah, may my father and mother be ransom for you, and then I told him (the whole story). He said: Was it the darkness (of your shadow) that I saw in front of me? I said: Yes. He struck me on the chest which caused me pain, and then said: Did you think that Allah and His Apostle would deal unjustly with you? She said: Whatsoever the people conceal, Allah will know it. He said: Gabriel came to me when you saw me. He called me and he concealed it from you. I responded to his call, but I too concealed it from you (for he did not come to you), as you were not fully dressed. I thought that you had gone to sleep, and I did not like to awaken you, fearing that you may be frightened. He (Gabriel) said: Your Lord has commanded you to go to the inhabitants of Baqi' (to those lying in the graves) and beg pardon for them. I said: Messenger of Allah, how should I pray for them (How should I beg forgiveness for them)? He said: Say, Peace be upon the inhabitants of this city (graveyard) from among the Believers and the Muslims, and may Allah have mercy on those who have gone ahead of us, and those who come later on, and we shall, God willing, join you."

There you have Muhammad beating his prepubescent wife because the latter followed him without his permission. He beat her on the breasts. Also
Abu Dawud (2141) - "Iyas bin ‘Abd Allah bin Abi Dhubab reported the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) as saying: Do not beat Allah’s handmaidens, but when ‘Umar came to the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) and said: Women have become emboldened towards their husbands, he (the Prophet) gave permission to beat them."
Abu Dawud (2142) - "The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: A man will not be asked as to why he beat his wife."
Abu Dawud (2126) - "A man from the Ansar called Basrah said: 'I married a virgin woman in her veil. When I entered upon her, I found her pregnant. (I mentioned this to the Prophet).' The Prophet (peace_be_upon_him) said: 'She will get the dower, for you made her vagina lawful for you. The child will be your slave. When she has begotten (a child), flog her'"
Those are Hadiths not the Quran. Baha'is only accept the Quran as the Word of God.
I know, right? There's a bunch of different collections of Hadiths and the different sects do not agree on which collections are valid and the interpretations of those Hadiths are extremely varied. The Hadiths are no where near as important as the Qur'an in Islam. (Not saying the Hadiths can't be of use, but still.)

How can you follow the example of Muhammad, as instructed in Qur'an 33:21, if you don't use the Hadith? The Qur'an tells you nothing about Muhammad's behavior or biography. Either the Hadith are essential to Islam or the Qur'an is a nonsensical book.

It is absolutely possible to teach and interpret the Quran In a tolerant and Just way so as to live in harmony with people of other Faiths.
However as we have seen it is also possible to interpret the Quran in an altogether antagonistic way, so as to give support to the likes of Islamic terrorists and ISIS. in the taking of slaves and the destruction of entire peoples and their way of life.
This has in past times been true of a majority of faiths including Christianity., and also of Extreme political regimes such as Stalin's, Hitler's and Pol Pot
The depravity of ISIS has reached the point where there is no place for them amongst civilised nations. They and their supporters have become pariahs to people of peace.
For them to be defeated and their threat to be permanently eliminated, all the world including Muslims must be prepared to join against them, wherever they are to be found. and that include all Islamic countries.
Only then will it be possible to have peace.
Also many of the Hadiths were written by enemies to try and defame Muhammad and cause division. Now our job is to create a loving humane world not condemn anymore.the age of hate is over and world conciliation must take the spotlight despite the clamouring of detractors. Light will always dispel darkness. Love defeat hate and peace and goodwill thwart war. All human beings must be loved and none treated as outcasts.
If this was true, I would have at least heard of it in my Islamic education and had sex with so many lovely non Muslim women using it as an excuse. I'm a 33 year old healthy single Saudi guy living in Saudi Arabia all my life. How come I never heard of it? I mean, this is Saudi Arabia, the no. 1 Islamic country!

Mankind were one community and Allah sent Prophets with glad tidings and warnings, and with them He sent the Scripture in truth to judge between people in matters wherein they differed. And only those to whom (the Scripture) was given differed concerning it after clear proofs had come unto them through hatred, one to another. Then Allah by His Leave guided those who believed to the truth of that wherein they differed. And Allah guides whom He wills to a Straight Path.(2:213)
