They also may be more technologically advanced than us and in different galaxies. Who knows. We've just barely begun exploring our backwoods neck of the Milky Way.

We haven't even got off the porch. So for extraterrestrials, we just might not be technologically advanced enough to warrant being communicated with. And if the gods exist, we just might not be spiritually advanced enough to warrant communication.

True enough. But those have more of a mathematical justification.

Why would we expect to be the stars of the show from an external point of view, when even by our own judgement it is such a high priority to avoid and mistrust our own peers?
