Finding Your Way In Paganism

Andys, lightstorm wanted to know more about Paganism, not how to be a atheist. As much as everyones opinion is important, I don't think you have the right to tell someone to be atheist when it is clear that is not what they are looking for.

Andys this is a DIR section. Meaning it's strictly for answering questions about Paganism. It's against forum rules to post in this section other then that.

Andys, I choose not to use drugs because I don't want the added variable of possible hallucinations to cloud my experiences. If you continue to troll this thread, I will report you.

Hello everyone! I've been reading through the threads on this forum and I find them very interesting. I'd like to start researching Paganism more seriously, and possibly adopt some of the beliefs, but I don't know where to start. How do you find the beliefs that suit you? It seems like there's a lot of different groups like Druids, Wiccans, etc, and I don't know where to begin with it all. I'm afraid to start down one path only to find that another is better for me personally. How do you find the right one when there are so many to choose from?

Heya Lightstorm. I'm not sure if there really can be a "best way" with paganism, as its kinda like an "all you can eat buffet". Alot of people say start with the Golden Dawn/Israel Regardie stuff, as its a good primer. But that's only if you are more inclined toward Hermeticism.

Or, another good starting place, IMO is Scott Cunningham. His books on herbalism and "Green Wicca" are terrific, as an intro--not terribly practical, in terms of medicinal lore, just good as an intro to old folk magick. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Cunningham

Can't go wrong with Crowley. His work is very inspirational, if not very informative. Probably his best stuff is in Liber 777, which was I think the first gi-normous "magical correspondence encyclopaedia" ever written. The Libri of Aleister Crowley

And if you need free info off the web, there is plenty of that out there. One of the best sites I know of is Sacred-Texts.com Internet Sacred Text Archive Home

Happy Hunting! :angel2:
