An ironic statement, given proper context.

The saying is attributed to Jesus. What if the "Jesus is God" belief is the beam in a Christian's eye?

Edit: just noticed this was in discussion, not debate. So I suppose we can't debate what I said, but I think it falls under "discussion".

Debate, discussion, are fine. You pose a very good question, and clearly Jesus in the Gospels prayed to his father in heaven and told other stories do the same, and in that context he did not think he was God, but I think this quote from him is about pointing the finger at ourself, and dealing with that, before pointing the finger at someone else, which seems to be the far more popular style :).

It was on fire when I laid down on it.

I agree with this.

Pointing is impolite, whether you doing it to others or oneself.

If that doesn't work, one can opt for corrective lenses or LASIK.

To me the simple message is that pointing a finger at someone because of their weaknesses in a superior manner is utterly hypocritical. We should work on our own shortcomings.
