An ironic statement, given proper context.and then you will see clearly enough to help another remove the speck from his/her eye?
Debate, discussion, are fine. You pose a very good question, and clearly Jesus in the Gospels prayed to his father in heaven and told other stories do the same, and in that context he did not think he was God, but I think this quote from him is about pointing the finger at ourself, and dealing with that, before pointing the finger at someone else, which seems to be the far more popular style .An ironic statement, given proper context.
The saying is attributed to Jesus. What if the "Jesus is God" belief is the beam in a Christian's eye?
Edit: just noticed this was in discussion, not debate. So I suppose we can't debate what I said, but I think it falls under "discussion".
I agree with this.Debate, discussion, are fine. You pose a very good question... I think this quote from him is about pointing the finger at ourself, and dealing with that, before pointing the finger at someone else, which seems to be the far more popular style .
Pointing is impolite, whether you doing it to others or oneself.Debate, discussion, are fine.
