What was the purpose of God creating the tree of knowledge of good and evil?

I cannot understand how you assume Jesus was with God before the creation.

As I wrote some time ago, God creates Adam. God creates the Garden of Eden. God creates the tree of knowledge of good and evil. God creates Eve. Eve gets tricked by the serpent to eat the forbidden fruit and then so does Adam. God gave man free will and yet did not want man to have the knowledge of good and evil. How can Man exercise free will without this knowledge? Why have the free will? And God would've known anyway that Eve was tricked by the serpent. Man was innocent and naive. Why put such a temptation for naive innocent man and give him free will. God is imnipotent, so He knew this would happen. So what was the point?

I am interested in the highlighted part. where these two in the garden of eden the first people on earth. if yes then assumption that evil would be there and man could actually chose which one they want to be, could be an option. But if human beings <homo sapiens> existed elsewhere besides this gardens then it could be the reason why the choice was there.
I am assuming adam and eve could be a beginning God wanted of clean humans though there were others who could be an evil generation, which also happened with the coming of Jesus again to establish a new people who would be forgiven through the blood of Jesus

It's interesting that its Johns words and not Jesus'... And no such mention of the word being a person in the OT.

This is not so; the word is mention on the fist book of the Bible at the beginning.
"Then God said" and the creation come to be. All things were made through Him (The word), and without Him ( The word "God said") nothing was made that was made.

"The word" is mentioned... and if you read earlier you can see how I think of the use "the word" by knowing a bit about Jewish history and thought...
But Jesus himself is never actually mentioned...It's all people scouring the OT for vague terms that may be possible to attach to Jesus.

I agree.
There are so many who try so hard to stuff the New Testament into the Old Testament.
By inserting Jesus everywhere they can in the OT they are, IMO, doing the same thing as Muslims who try to insert Mohamed into the Bible.

Evil among other words instantly conjure up a predetermined meaning in our head, just like hell does.
Evil is simply at the root level a human that "thinks" they do not need God. Because if God made everything for "his" pleasure, part of that pleasure is for us to need him. So this is where evil start. Notice later in the bible it says Money is the Root of all evil? Well it ties in perfectly with the knowledge of good and evil. We find GREAT comfort in our money, enough comfort that many who have a lot of money do not need or have time for God (at least the one in the bible). Of course evil is many things, but this is evil at it conception.

Hi Looking for truth ~ I have a question for you. When was the meat eating beasts, the meat eating birds and the meat eating creatures that walk on the earth created? The bible only talks about those beast and birds and other creatures that only eat grass etc. the vegetarian animals in Gen 1:30. When were the meat eater beast created?? thanks for your help.
