And if you need an excuse to indulge and feel good about it, you are obviously plagued with guilt and anxiety. Which is almost invariably what drives people to something like this - makes sense to me.

Some need a method to not indulge, and 'feel good' about it.

Yet others do not indulge, and feel bad about it.

So many options ...

So if you have guilt and anxiety you'd say this is not a bad thing?

Depends. There are no guarantees about the outcome. It is great if someone overcomes guilt and anxiety. Whether or not this process gets that kind of result would depend on a lot of factors - the wisdom and integrity of the person(s) guiding the practices would probably be the defining factor.

Why, exactly, should we forget about Scientology? Are you trying to advertise that this OTO is an even better scam than Scientology?

I was off my tree one day walking around in Sydney, and was approached by a Scientologist. He made the offer of a free IQ test, and I was feeling like I was up for some novelty and amusement, so I went with him to their headquarters and did the test.

I'll leave out the funny details of that little adventure, and get to the interesting bit. I accepted their offer of a free 3-day communications course. I think that maybe I could find a copy of the course book if I put my mind to it, and sometimes think I might, because it was really interesting. I learned some fundamental and useful skills.

I didn't continue with any other stuff, although years later I did an auditing session to see what that was all about. Interesting, but IMO scamboogery. It is a way for the Organisation to profile its members in detail. And I received hundreds of letters over a decade or so, despite moving house heaps of times ... that's what 'secret societies ' can do - they have members in all sorts of government departments etc to access all kinds of 'private ' records.

Anyway, I digress. The point is, if you can find the coursebook for the 3-day communications course, check it out. It's cool. Lots of interesting games to play.

No, just quoting the Headline of the article.

Unlike Scientology, OTO members are obviously free to leave whenever they want - and they are free to be as loud about as they like without fear - as some ex-Scientology members experience.

Its nothing like Scientology.

If we had a Thelema DIR you could simply avoid it... and leave us madmen to it!
Cause I don't have DIR to go to I have no choice but to post things I'd like to discuss all over the place :(

I guess. It's pretty specific. There's, like, ' Occultism DIR - Religious Education Forum or just the other in general Religious Education Forum - Discuss, Compare and Debate Religions in Our Online Community But, ya. Sorry, I just made an observation about European mysticism and the insane amount of details. I love you guys to do what wish to do. :)
