Forgiven of Sins

But you are dancing around the point.

I would have rather commited those 76,650 sins than murdered 1 person.

Rex...he wasn`t dancing around the point he hit it right on the head as far as Christianity is concerned.

The problem with this question and why you don`t understand the immorality of Christian sin is that you have a moral code that is based on something other than Biblical text while Christians have no moral code of their own as they follow Gods.

To many people who have thought, studied, and agonized over their own morality Gods moral code leaves a lot to be desired.

That math doesn't add up.

And it never will.

It`s comparing apples to oranges.

As I understand it, and correct me if I am wrong-

As long as you accept Jesus (look at the title, I'm talking about Christianity) into your heart, believe he is God's son, He rose from the dead, and He died for all of our sins, then you can be forgiven for whatever you have done.
TRUE

Now I have a slight problem with this generalized idea.

Lets say I am a law abiding moral person that does nothing but good to people around me, but the ONE thing I don't believe in is what is stated above. This means I will not be forgiven and I will ultimitely(sp) go to hell.

BUT

If I am not a law abiding immoral person that goes out and kills and rapes but I do believe in the stated above and I ask for forgiveness then I too can go into the gates of heaven, if I truely ask for forgiveness.

I just don't get that.

Both OT and NT tell you willfull sin is unforgiven.
Mal. 3:6 "I change not" Heb.13:8 "same yesterday, today and forever"
If the rules changed, both, God and Jesus are liars and we/you and I are unsaved and destined for hell.
But both are TRUTH, the rules are the same rules laid down for the "Children of Israel".
Replacement Theology, changes the rules, times and the law. Precepts of men! Go ahead and trust man's rules, I'll pray for you, that Hashem/El Shaddai will open your eyes before it is too late.

So do I!

If God is willing to forgive humans for their sins if they believe in Him (talk about an ego trip!), why did He need to sacrifice his Son. Why doesn't He simply forgive them? Having Jesus live incarnate, to die on the cross and be resurected makes absolutely no sense. If I wish to forgive someone who has sinned against me, do I have to go out and kill another person in order to do that?

That issue alone is enough to make me reject Christianity.

I guess we will hear the same tired old excuse: "God works in mysterious ways."

Jesus Christ is the Passover Lamb. He fullfilled hundreds of prophecies so that we can believe in him. There is no greater name in this universe then Jesus Christ, the son of God who God raised from the dead and sits at God's right hand. It is sololy through God's divine grace and incredible mercy that in this present Age mankind can be saved from judgement through the belief in the power of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

That may seem foolish to many but the foolishness of God is wiser then the wisdom of men.

The way I see it, God is willing to forgive everyone. If you are perfectly contrite in your thoughts and actions (perfect contrition is a term in Catholicism which means you are sorry for having turned your back on God, not simply because you are desiring to avoid punishment, although that's okay too.). That is, you go to confession and try your level best to accept God. You have a genuine love for God. That is what is meant by accepting Jesus. It's not just acknowledging him as a supreme being, but actually inviting him into your life. If you don't do these things, you go to hell, not because God is punishing you, but because he loves you too much to force you to accept him for eternity. If God forced those who do not love him to live in his love forever, that would actually be punishment.

The Act of Contrition sums it up, and includes references to perfect and imperfect contrition.

O my God, I am heartily sorry for
having offended you, and I detest
all my sins, because of Your just
punishments, but most of all because
they offend You, my God, who are
all-good and deserving of all my love.
I firmly resolve, with the help of
Your grace, to sin no more and to
avoid the near occasion of sin.
