This is a bone-chilling assessment from John Brennan about Trump that is truly scary as he feels that "Our future is in jeopardy" in regards to Trump's actions. Brennan has served six presidents, so one simply would have a hard time excusing his comment on some sort of partisanship.
Here's the interview that was conducted this morning, and one can here what I quoted above at around the 2:30 mark. The entire seven minute interview is
very worth listening to:
Comments?
Well, I've thought that our future has been in jeopardy for quite some time, long before Trump ever came on the scene.
One point raised in the interview is that Putin might have something on Trump, presumably to blackmail and control him. This may or may not be true, although one thing I've noticed over the years is that we've had this ongoing phobia about "the Russians are coming" for generations, mainly because too many people refuse to take the time to learn about them and understand a little better about where they're coming from. Whole generations have been raised to think of the Russians as devils with horns, so I'll admit that I roll my eyes whenever I see the same kind of rhetoric being used today.
As for Trump, the panel seemed to have difficulty figuring Trump out. There seemed to be some view that they don't really understand what he's doing. One commentator seemed to make an issue out of Trump misspelling some of his Tweets. I have to wonder: Have they never been to a truck stop or inside a locker room or any number of places where one can find the kind of blowhard attitude exuded by guys like Trump? Have they never encountered this before? Or have they just spent their time in country clubs, Ivy League campuses, corporate board meetings, and high-level cocktail parties?
None of what Trump has proposed should be a great surprise to anyone. Issues like tariffs, border walls, immigration, and taking an overall America First position have been discussed for decades - but just not in the mainstream media or high society. If they appear shocked or unable to understand these things, it's only because they don't want to understand. A guy like Brennan can sit there and tell people that "our prosperity is endangered," but such words mean nothing to the countless millions of Americans for whom all this alleged "prosperity" never really quite trickled down.
