Fox News Crushes Cable News Channels

I take this with a grain of salt. There is a specific demographic of people who use cable news as their primary news source in lieu of web sources. If I were to guess it would be the older/more impoverished demographic. With that in mind, this is hardly a surprise.

Well it appears that Fox News has once again crushed their cable news rivals.

Fox reports of political news events are often so at odds with what other mainstream news outlets report , one wonders if it is operating in a parallel universe of alternative facts. The big loser unfortunately is the Fox audience. They tune in for the news but instead get indoctrination. They trust Fox and are persuaded by its propaganda. Political propaganda may make Fox a great deal of money but it is profoundly damaging to America’s political institutions.

Of all the mass media news outlets, Fox is very much the bad actor. It is the agent that poisons the well for all the outlets. Worse, it poisons America’s political culture. This predicament raises a most troubling question about Fox. Should a propaganda outlet posing as a news channel be afforded the full protection of the First Amendment in the Constitution?

With Trump as President, and both he and Fox accusing news media as being inherently dishonest, the country needs to debate what constitutes honest journalism and its practice.

If honesty is sacrificed to ideology and propaganda, can the grand American experiment of democracy survive?

More importantly, it strengths the irony when Fox blasts things like " the mainstream media"...

No one is watched more consistently, or more often - which is the very definition of mainstream. All of their criticisms of are actually directed towards themselves.

As long as you pay close enough attention, people will tell you everything you ever wanted to know.

"Fox News - We Report; You Decide."

Their careless use of facts is stated, openly, in their tag line.

I am curious what this means to you.

I've never had much interest in broadcast news. Before the internet I nearly always used various print sources and afterwards, well, the zillions of new sources.
My only real experience with Fox was during the lead up to the Iraq invasion and the lies and dissembling was staggering to me. I watched it a few times a week though, because my dad was ill and I drove up to be with him as often as possible. He was buying the lies hook line and sinker which made me insane. He really believed that it was to protect this country, save the Iraqis, and was a noble effort to democratize the Middle East. And he refused to even look at anything that contradicted the semi-official Republican news agency Fox. I came to thoroughly hate that station.

Poor Rachel, maybe she should do more stories like President Trump's 2005 tax return.

That Fox News is drawing big numbers isn't surprising at all. Simply look at who's making all the controversial political news, the Republican conservatives' favorite king of the castle, Donny. And it ain't good news either, so who do you turn to for reassurance that Donny ain't the numbskull he appears to be, and that your vote wasn't wasted after all? Certainly not people like MSNBC who are holding Donny's feet to the fire, but Fox News, the comfort blanket for all the conservative knuckle heads across the country who convinced themselves that Donny had their best interests at heart. "Please tell us Foxy that everythin's goin' to be alright. Pleeease."
