Good for Smith. Journalists are going to have start banding together to fight for freedom of the press to hold Trump and his administration accountable and show him that they cannot be bullied. It is the job of the press to hold the government accountable, not the other way around.

CNN did not do anything wrong, and Trump's attempt to bully them is disgraceful.

I do have mad respect for Shepard Smith. His handling of the American ebola panic that was otherwise stoked by mainstream media at the time was brilliant as well.

Well, they had jumped the gun. Before they go out and publish any stories, that they should wait until all the facts comes in. If they were going to published it beforehand,at least they should let the viewers to know that it has not been confirmed yet.

That is exactly what CNN did. CNN looked at the information and made the decision not to publish it because it had not been confirmed. That was the right decision.

Buzzfeed looked at the information and decided to publish it. I think they made the wrong decision. They published unconfirmed information. But even Buzzfeed made it clear to the viewers that it was unconfirmed. What buzzfeed did was no different than the kind of thing Trump has been doing for years. For years Trump had been disseminating false information with no evidence to back it up simply by saying things like "people are saying..." or "I read it on the internet". And this I think is irresponsible. What Buzzfeed did was irresponsible.

But CNN did not do that. CNN behaved responsibly concerning this story.

Surprised Shep hasn't been fired yet for the things he says. He must have some dirt on Fox over these years or something. CNN is an international news organization based in the south. They're much more credible than Fox. Fox is the republican establishment media arm. An outlet the republican party uses to convince people to vote corporate republican.

It is now news that those in the news will defend & attack others in the news.
It's news for a presidential candidate to so brazenly criticize a legit source of news as "fake."

He probably realizes with accusations of "fake news" and cries of "lügen presse" that for at least the next few years journalists are really going to have to stick together. Whether they like it or not, CNN, MSNBC, and Fox all now share a common enemy, and that is the core demograph of Trump supporters.

I haven't seen so much news all at one time targeting one person, and that is President D.J. Trump that they has been targeting. Especially before he get into office, that they has so much information on him, more than any other scandals in history. They even did not have that much information on Hitler or JFK sex scandals. I wonder why?

And of course we see fake news in this thread which is no surprise. That old fashioned but still apt word "lie" is helpful as is remembering that lies are believed by those who are looking for confirmation of their pre-existing biases.

What's bad is when people want to call CNN fake but look to sources like InfoWars and Breitbart as real and credible. We live in a very disgusting culture when news is "real" or "fake" depending just on how one feels about it.

CNN (Acosta) acted entirely rudely during the press conference. I thought Trump could've handled it better, but was fairly effective.
I think Jim Acosta felt he had a right to confront his accuser. And I would agree.

And he did so in an entirely whiny manner. Hence why he was treated poorly by Trump. Seems Shep and you want to completely downplay that part of this. Sorry, I don't.
