Propaganda and fake news is dangerous to America. Republicans don't want the fairness doctrine reinstated.
Libertarians typically dislike the fairness doctrine too.
Why?
It imposes obligations upon the venue, which will then be reluctant to
air political speech because of the unproductive air time cost.
Besides, airing both sides doesn't look to improve the quality of news.
Speech regulation is itself bad news.

Libertarians are just republicans. I don't view them differently. News shouldn't be fake, false, misleading. If an outlet intentionally does this, they need to be looked into. I don't understand why people are against facts and don't mind propaganda swaying the minds of people.

Libertarians are just republicans.
The way Democrats are just Marxists?
I don't view them differently.
Why...do you have one eye closed?

Woo hoo...we agree!

People love their propaganda because it's soothing.

So? Damn people's feelings. We have laws against libel, slander, false advertisement, and misleading and misinforming people. News should not be any different. Mistakes and errors will happen, but, at the same time, Fox has donated money to Republican causes and campaigns. That isn't news, it's propaganda.

The regulatory problem is that one person's news is another's propaganda.
You know what government is like.
Make it the gatekeeper of information, & we'd be like China, hearing only what they like.

No, it's not. We can discern between fact and fallacy.
Desiring accountability does not mean wanting rolling media blackouts like China.
I observe that most people cannot discern between falsehood, fact,
opinion, factoid, lying, propaganda, prevarication, error, & ommission.
But even those who can, when in a position of authority, will serve their
master rather than objectivity, completeness, relevance, & neutrality.

It doesn't have to be the government being the "master" and "information gatekeeper." Really, it's not the government that has to get involved in order to point out that Fox claiming to be "fair and balanced" is very misleading. I do believe we have laws against "false advertisement." It is not of a politically biased nature but objective fact they have made up things, photoshopped images, exaggerated numbers, and many instances of false reports, bias, and of course political donations. Chris Benoit's murder/suicide being wrongly reported as roid rage induced even began with Fox News.

Without a governmental gatekeeper, we'll have what we have now.
Btw, Fox News is not the only one to mislead.
The left has their propagandists too.
So where does that leave us?
We do what we do.
What else should we do?
