From the NYT: Four of Trump's Most Meandering Remarks This Week; feel free to read it if you wish.

Yes, his hyperbole is becoming increasingly untethered, but it's still pretty much Trump being Trump, i.e.:

To compensate for insecurity and shame, narcissists feel superior, often expressed with disdain or contempt. Arrogance and putdowns bolster their egos by projecting the devalued parts of themselves onto others. Trump has disparagingly and publicly labeled various people a “dog,” “bimbo,” “dummy,” “grotesque,” “losers,” or “morons.” Narcissists’ invectives are made worse by their lack of empathy, which enables them to see people as two-dimensional objects to meet their needs. “It really doesn’t matter what they write as long as you’ve got a young and beautiful piece of [expletive]” (Esquire, 1991). Objectifying others demonstrates how insensitively they were treated growing up. [source]

And, speaking of Trump being Trump, we get ...

where

Mr. Trump opened his speech at the airport in Latrobe, Pa., with 12 minutes of reminiscing about the golfer Arnold Palmer, who grew up in the Western Pennsylvania town and for whom the airport was named.
His monologue culminated in lewd remarks about the size of Mr. Palmer’s penis. Moments later, Mr. Trump gave the crowd an opportunity to call out a profanity. He went on to use that four-letter word to describe Ms. Harris.
“Such a horrible four years,” Mr. Trump said, referring to the Biden-Harris administration, as he surveyed the crowd of hundreds of people in front of him. “We had a horrible — think of the — everything they touch turns to —.”
Many in his audience — which was mostly made up of adults but included some children, infants and teenagers — eagerly filled in the blank, shouting, “****!”

Sadly, I fully expect our Trump sycophants to remain unfazed.

If I saw this in a film I'd think it was just too ridiculous to be believable.

It is mob psychology and yes Trump knows very well what he is doing, it is the mob that is not thinking as they collect their torches.

When he is not talking about using the military to deal with Adam Schiff he is talking about Arnold Palmer's golf club.

I need a drink. Maybe 1/2 iced tea and 1/2 lemonade.

An Arnold Palmer is actually mostly unsweetened iced tea with just enough lemonade to sweeten it. It's how the man himself ordered them. The half n half, however, is what took off like (shudders just thinking this) "'Luke,' I am your father."

That's true. We worry about a politician who seems obsessed with genitalia. We also worried about it in 2016, when he bragged in the Access Hollywood about molesting women's genitals. We also worry about voters like you, who don't worry about a candidate for the US presidency who obsesses about such things. This particular remark followed a very long ramble about Arnold Palmer that seemed like it would never end. But it ended up there.

This is another thread about how irrational Trump supporters are, because if they were rational thinkers they would no longer support him since he is declining and unfit for office. These threads illustrate the odd psychology of MAGAs and how they have become like emotional robots, and unable to recognize reality and understand what they observe.

Trump's support is similar to creationists. They believe an unrealistic set of ideas and refuse to acknowledge facts to the contrary. MAGAs believe in a fiction and facts and reason don't enter into the consideration of Trump as president. They certainly aren't concerned about his criminal intent and his mental decline. They refuse to acknowledge how he is considered a security risk by US intelligence. It's unbelievable what these voters have become. They're like meth addicts who haven't realized they have a serious problem yet.

When Trump was first getting going politically, people would suggest that I was being fooled by "fake news". My response was that if all I had to go on were his own words, I would still believe that he should not be allowed within a mile of the White House.

And I still feel that way.

If I saw this in a film I'd think it was just too ridiculous to be believable.
How about Dick Cheney endorsing Kamala Harris?

How about nearly half of Americans supporting a vindictive, demented criminal with dictatorial aspirations?

Imagine being told that such things were in America's future twenty years ago when Cheney was VP. It would be unbelievable. I for one wouldn't be able to envision a path from there to here.
he knows what he's doing.
Not anymore. He has a repertoire of grifting, vengeance, and gaslighting that has served him well until he became president and was subjected to scrutiny. If he knew what he was doing, he wouldn't be facing prison and poverty.

And now, we've got the dementia, meaning he's losing insight and impulse control. He doesn't know where he is much of the time, he insults his audiences, he confuses people with one another, and he rambles about nonsense. These are new. Previously, we were dealing with a sociopathic malignant narcissist. Now he's a demented.

I have a lot of experience treating demented patients. What I noticed is that they fell into three groups - happy people, angry people, and fearful people, although there could be some mixing a with fear and anger.

These were people who babbled with smiles, struck out verbally and physically, and/or recoiled into fetal positions with fearful faces. The insight that I came to was that these were what their inner lives had been like before dementia, but they had the insight and social skills to largely conceal their anger or fear except to people who knew them well. But with loss of the ability to see yourself as others do and to control how one appears to others, they change.

It isn't too difficult to see which path Trump is taking. He's principally defined by rage, but fear is creeping in now as he begins to realize what his fate will be if he doesn't win the election. Mary Trump and Michael Cohen both say he's terrified of prison, but until the end of his life, it wasn't a real threat.

I can see why you don't like to read words like these above, and why you and other MAGA would try to erect impediments to such criticism with comments like that one and references to TDS, but perhaps you've noticed that they have no more effect on Trump's critics than their words have on MAGA.
