Gabriel is not an angel according to Quran

gnostic

The Lost One
In the Torah, Moses give no names to angels.

It is only in Babylon (in exile) and later, that there were angels with names, and later still, given ranks.

The Jews gave names to their angels only because they found out that Zoroastrian religion had named their.

um...
not trying to be an arse, but I have quite often heard that in order to understand the Koran, one must read it in the original language.
Now if this true, how would arguing over a "truth" in the Koran in English be productive?

yea sometimes translations are so poor because some Islamic concepts are used in verses and they do not exist in English. also some Arabic words can not be translated by just one word, an explanation needed to fulfill the meaning of the word. i am unsure if that's the case with this verse.
