Gabriel said, "Islam is your religion"

So, I was just wondering, if Gabriel said to Mohammed that he chouse islam as the religion of human kind, why did Baha'u'llah bring a new religion called the Bahá'í faith. Why didn't he continue with the name islam? Muslims believe that when Jesus returns he will "call all humanity to Islam" (quoted from Second Coming - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Baha'is believe there is only one Religion of God so to us Baha'u'llah did not bring a "new" religion it is the same religion of God simply updated to meet the exigeses of the time and meet the challenges facing mankind today.. In every age when humanity needs a new Messenger the time is ripe and God does not leave mankind alone without Divine Guidance.

We believe Angel Gabriel is a symbol in Islam of the Holy Spirit just as the "dove" symbolized the descent of the Holy Spirit on the Lord Jesus after His baptism.. or the Burning Bush symbolised the Holy Spirit thatwas experienced by Prophet Moses..

"Islam" means being submitted to God's Will.. in this sense can you think of any Prophet or Messenger of God that has not submitted to God's Will?

Of course we cannot ..so in this sense..not in the sense of the religion of Islam per se but in the sense of submitting to God all God's Prophets and Messengers submit to GOd's Will.

he (jesus (as)) will call people to islam but he wont be a prophet, he will be sent by Alah to complete his mission and he will be raised again.

Greetings, greetings! :)

Why didn't he [Baha'u'llah] continue with the name islam?

While I can't assert that the statements referred to this specifically, I think is is worth noting that both the Jewish and Christian scriptures prophesied (in at least three places) that the Spirit will have a new name!

Best regards, :)

Ah, but is that the name of the prophet or the religion?

"Holy Spirit is universal. There is one Light but many lamps; there is one Wine but the glasses differ"

(Abdu'l-Baha, Tablets of Abdu'l-Baha v3, p. 505)

Seeing as we strongly believe that all religions are the same in essence I think the name of the essense is irrelavant why would it matter what it be called?

In reference to the "new name" of Revelations, our dear Lord said that the new name has a spiritual and inward meaning, not an outward one, that it does not mean something that can be pronounced by the tongue, but it means that when a soul comes into the great Kingdom of God.

The "attributes" or "names" of God light upon him, and by this he receives new consciousness and new understanding, and he becomes a new man. Therefore "call all humanity to Islam" would in my interpretation be "calling humanity" to the "light"

When we believe that God is outside of us then we need to talk about submitting to the will of that God. Then our ideal position would be a slave of that God. But if we believe that God is our ultimate potential, then it is not about submission that we would talk about, but of awakening to the divinity that we are.

As Baha 'is we don't really believe we are God(s) and so pantheism is not a Baha'i view...

We do accept that God's attributes are relfected in creation.

We can only begin to know God through His Manifestations is closer to our belief.
