Don't forget if you live in the US to look up the prices of your meds to see if they are cheaper without insurance. If it is ask to pay for it without using insurance.Ive done this a few times...seriously some meds cost only 4 dollars without insurance but could cost more with it.
Also if you don't have insurance and get a medical bill...go to healthcare bluebook and fair health consumer (links embedded)find out what your bill shouldve cost. Then call the person who sent the bill and try to negotiate...tell them according to such and such this is how much my bill shouldve cost.If they send you to a collections agency try to negotiate...if its on your credit...call the credit people say it's a violation of Hippa and they'll have to take it off. If they refuse ask them if they have a paper you signed that the hospital gave them saying you agreed to your info being shared. They probably won't have it and remove it.
