Gay Pride, the final sign of the end...

RF members might have fun with this one... On the top of the page when you follow the link there is a section about Gay Pride. http://www.familyradio.com
Here is an excert:

Therefore we can know that by means of the continuing
worldwide successes of the Gay Pride, same-sex marriage movement,
God has given convincing evidence that the world is on the
threshold of Judgment Day.

This conclusion is not offered because it is the opinion of
some Bible scholar. It is said because this is what God teaches in
the Bible. This dramatic sign which increasingly is in evidence all
over the world fits perfectly with the solid Biblical teaching that
May 21, 2011 will be the first day of the Day of Judgment.

I really have to wonder if you are serious about this anymore. Because if any part of you still actually believes this garbage about May 2011 then I have to say that making light of it is really sick. Is this really your idea of fun?

I know, crazy huh, I am torn inside

Did you actually read the material? BTW, why the personal innuendo there?

Yes, and if he was a true Bible scholar, he would know what the true "sins" of Sodom and Gomorrah were...
Ezekiel 16:49-50
49 Behold, this was the iniquity of thy sister Sodom, pride, fullness of bread, and abundance of idleness was in her and in her daughters, neither did she strengthen the hand of the poor and needy.
50 And they were haughty, and committed abomination before me: therefore I took them away as I saw good.

Mathew 10:11-15
11 And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, inquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence. 12 And when ye come into an house, salute it.
13 And if the house be worthy, let your peace be upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14 And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.
¶15 Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha (sic) in the day of judgment, then for that city.

Inhospitably. Greed. Pride.

(Notice how whenever Sodom is mentioned elsewhere in the Bible, no reference is made to homosexuality)

I am for the most part open and honest with you people. I learn and grow each day. As far as it being fun, as you can see some have already made jokes... right?

You don't find it funny, I will respect that. I didn't write the material, but I thought members would like to see what is being published out there. I knew some would find it funny, and I could only assume some would find it highly offensive.

Despite all of that, I have generally treated members here with respect and honesty. What else do you want from me?

I appreciate the response, but when did Harold suggest Sodom's only sin was gay action? At least represent the facts clearly...

Because I actually like you Mike. And the fact that you trust someone who intentionally misleads you makes me want to take you by the shoulders and shake some freaking sense into you.
Much appreciated. Really. I have to face my demons alone, and I do it every day.

It is not something I can fix (if it is truly broken) over night.

Thanks for explaining...

It may be because many preachers interpret the Bible to suit them, and part of a long tradition of hating homosexuality.

People tend to listen to the charismatic preachers, after all.

Perhaps he overlooks the passage in question. I will not pretend to know his motives though.

At your invitation. You started this thread by inviting people to make fun of the deaths of billions of people. Them I can excuse because they don’t believe it. It is one thing for people who think this is nonsense to make fun of it, but it is quite another thing if you really believe it. If you do really believe it why invite the mockery? If you really believe it why invite people to make fun of it? Do you consider that to be decent behaviour?

Maybe inviting mockery is your way of starting to come to grips with how ridiculous it is. I consider that a real possibility. Have you considered that possibility?

But if you really honestly believe this then what you are doing is extremely grotesque. And I can’t let that pass without at least pointing it out.

I would go as far to suggest Harold doesn't hate anyone. He may be delusional, but he simply presents the facts as he sees them (even if they're wrong), without contempt for anyone.

Actually if you listen to any of his broadcasts and compare them to most other religious speakers of his sorts, there is generally a bit of hostility in their voice. I don't ever hear that with Harold. Just an observation about his character...

However, if someone could point out where he personally feels contempt for the material or subjects presented, I would like to see it. Thanks...

Thanks for the explanation. As most already know what I believe on here, I knew what would be coming my way by posting this, in terms of laughs, regardless of an invitation.

Posting the material seemed important to me, so people can be exposed to what is being published out there, and to engage any comments that might actually arise from posting it.

As for billions of people dying, that happens all the time, just not in such a short time frame. Last time I checked 200,000 die everyday on Earth on average every 24 hours. So if this is all true, it really is a sad day for many, and for those that will go on, it will be a joyous time. Me personally if this is all true, I don't claim to be one that will be alive, just for the record...

Thanks for the comments

I'm glad to hear he doesn't hate anyone, at least. :)

I guess though for him, his idea goes along the lines of "love the sinner, hate the sin". However, it can seem like there is no real separation between hating the sinner and hating the "sin", especially when it is something that one has no control over whatsoever. We wouldn't respect someone who said the same based on someone's race or gender so why should we allow someone who says the same of sexuality?

Just my opinion. :)

He may be delusional, but he simply presents the facts as he sees them (even if they're wrong),
Yep. :D

If these are the facts as he sees them, though, how does he know when the end of the world is coming? Why does he go against the teachings of Jesus in the Bible if this is the case?

Matthew 24:36-37: "No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man."

A bit hmmm for me.
