Oh yeah, men can divorce the women by pronouncing 'talaq' three times, or even informing them with mobile, e-mail or whatsapp; and the women could get divorce only if the man wanted to give it.
Maintenance is the 'mehr' agreed upon. Man entitled to get the custody of children, his children, and not that of the woman.
That is what happens in practice though as per books men should take three months to get 'talaq' (proper consideration) and give 'talaq' when demanded. You would know better about the exact rules.
India, like many Muslim countries is changing these laws.

Some "Islamic" countries don't have such laws, the divorce is through the court and women can divorce even if men didn't want to, and she can have the custody of children too. ( Tunisia for example )

Thats not true caste system is very dominant in Indo-Pak societies, people still do not marry other than their own caste. One of the things we are trying to explain to the Pakistanis is that caste system is of Hindu Origin and have absolutely nothing to do with Islam. All Muslims should abandon the caste system completely.
