General Debate: The Solution to All The World's Problems

I'm not going to win this debate, am I?
Not as long as you can't bring everyone to agree what the winning condition for the game of life is.
You can analyse a game of GO to see where you made the error that lost you the game. And you can try to not make that error again. GO has rules and if you have less territory than your opponent, you've lost.
When you have started multiple wars on lies that cost your country billions of dollars, but you don't go to prison for it, and you have billions of $$ in your bank account - have you lost, have you made an error?

Team Meeting! Huddle-up! @Heyo brings an excellent point. We need to make a plan. I'm sorry. I was being flippant. But this is serious.

Friends, Comrades.

How to solve the world's problems?

Objective: Freedom needs to be enforced.

Who can argue with that?

@Kfox? Freedom needs to be enforced?
@Heyo? Freedom needs to be enforced?

@Balthazzar? Freedom needs to be enforced?

@Twilight Hue? Freedom needs to be enforced?

@Daemon Sophic? Freedom needs to be enforced?

History matters, eh? I know myself well enough to know that I come and go. Sometimes I stick around for a few months on end, just to leave for at least as long. Other times, it's more like years. It has been a rare pleasure to acquire anything so lasting that it never ends. Few and far between these are. We all have stories. When I publish, I'll try to post a few of them. We wee wandering types who have been surfing longer than we sometimes like to reveal have a way of showing up out of nowhere sometimes.

Have a nice one,

Blessings from me to you where ever you roam,

The easiest definition I know:

Freedom is the capability to make mistakes and to make amends. Both conditions are necessary. Even more simply stated:

Freedom is opportunity to improve.
By that definition, I think we're all free already.

And if we're not, its probably our own fault.

I disagree. I wish it were true, what you wrote, but it's not. Upward social mobility requires: food, water, shelter, health-care, and education. There are many places, too many places where these basic necessities are absent or not at all adequate to produce improvement.

These are big group problems. Not individual problems. There are groups, large groups, which cannot improve. Children. Are not getting fed. Too many, and too often. And this is not accounting for the wars that @Heyo had written about.

Ah, we are talking about different things, then. Different kind of improvement. Much more specific.

Even in a prison, a person can learn new subjects or topics, work out, paint. Improve. But no, it will not improve them in the eyes of society. But if one wants social mobility, yes more things will be required, and no, not all will have access to it.

Blessings from me to you where ever you roam,

I was walking the streets of LA one day, and as I approached the corner store, I noticed the name of it, "Bombay". I thought to myself "Cool, the Stones". So, I went in to grab a cup of coffee but was short a few cents. No problem. They didn't mind. In other area's, I found it difficult to buy a glass of water, but I was later handed a fat sack lunch (calamari), which was nice. I was hungry and had never tried Calamari before. Anyway, I watched the sunset over the Pacific and as people started gathering on the Santa Monica pier, I was able to breath enough freedom in to feel peaceful. I later headed towards the Marina Del Rey area. Walking down the beachfront, round about 2 - 3 am, I located a party being thrown in a condo. They seemed to be enjoying every morsel of life up there. The woman were beautiful. Anyway, I stood below the balcony, watched for a few minutes, and carried on with my one-month California sojourn. The sun was rising at this point, and I found myself at another pier. I never thought there would be so many leaving the beach this time of morning, but then I had never been to Cali before. It's funny how faces change when the lights come on. Crazy world we live in and "The Angels" were different than I had ever imagined.

I'm roaming a little further east from Cali at the moment. We just caught the backend of hurricane Beryl a day or two ago. I didn't stay in Texas very long. Amarillo was beautiful at sunset, though.

Nah.

The solution is to recognize that "problem" is a projection of norms and "supposed to" onto reality. Things are what they are. Expecting things to be some particular way or another (when they aren't) is what makes "problems" exist. Suspending those expectations removes the existence of problems. And also, mistakes... as a "mistake" is also a normative projection.

Often players encounter "problems" and "mistakes" in the game here that are a consequence of their expectations and normative projections. If we consider the game situation without these projections, we can see that many so-called problems and mistakes are simply part of the gameplay and can be seen as opportunities for growth and improvement. Thus, accepting reality, whether in life or in the virtual world, helps to reduce stress and improve overall perception.
Accepting things as they are and letting go of rigid expectations does go a long way in reducing stress and conflict in life.

Ok....

Things are what they are.

Agreed.

Expecting things to be some particular way or another (when they aren't) is what makes "problems" exist

Wait. You just contradicted yourself.

"Things are what they are" <--- this is a particular expectation.

Suspending those expectations removes the existence of problems

Um. Try suspending your expectations while you're driving on the highway. Close your eyes. Breathe. And put the pedal all the way down.

It's a simple test. Hopefully you can predict the outcome without literally trying it yourself.

The human mind has evolved, survived, and thrived using expectations and sensory feedback. The human mind in many ways can be accurately described as highly advanced, exceptionally capable, and accurate prediction engine. You seem to be advocating for abandoning a Human's greatest asset.

Yes, of course, this blessing can become a curse. But let's not throw out the baby with the bath water, or cut off our nose in spite... of our face.

Abandoning expectations for a better tomorrow is contributing to the problem. It is not the solution. If you want to give up, fine. I'll be the one defending your freedom while you have abandoned your expectations for it.

It's a self-centered solution. The world's problems cannot be solved by finding inner peace and accepting that children are starving.

What's evil? Please don't say "Israel". That's not productive.
Goodness gracious...someone has a one track mind.
Tis best to not complain about something that hasn't happened.

As for evil, I purposely avoided defining it
because of the potential for derailment.
You should be appreciative, not snarky.
