Getting a tattoo!

I'm feeling a bit attracted to this one right now. It's Cernunnos, symbolized by the stag.
That's pretty cool...here's one the same but with a ring around it: http://pillagedvillage.com/intpvonline/images/bigpics/stag.jpg

I think you should get a tattoo on your biceps of a woman who takes off her top when you flex your muscles, Druidus. Endlessly fascinating, IMHO.
Thats assuming he has the biceps to flex. That kind of tattoo would be interesting.

I think a good idea for a small one, since you don't want something too big. A celtic knotwork, with runes woven into the design.
I have found out, if you want black, pay close attention when its being done. I know a couple people who have had a tattoo re-done several times because it wasn't black.

I'm getting a tattoo. Give me ideas/designs! The person with the design/idea I choose gets 1500 coins and frubals!
It's too bad that so many people have to have these trendy and popular affectations
applied to their bodies in the name of unique, nonconformist self-expression.

Until recently youthful fashion victims only had to change their clothes or their hairstyles to escape dreadful style choices and silly appearances.

Now, with piercings and tattooings, things are more complicated.

Most people regret their tattoos years after getting them.
Many people pay a lot of money to have them painfully removed.
Tattoo removal will be a huge business in ten to twenty years.
Removing piercings is much easier, you just remove the jewelry and the skin grows back.

IMPO, tattoos and piercings are not nearly as beautiful as natural skin. If you want to wear art, put it on your tee shirt.

Please do yourself a favor and just use a temporary tattoo. One that you can wash off when you're tired of it. Look at all the coins and frubals you'll save, not to mention all the regrets later on.

Thankfully, Druidus is a responsible individual who needs no body art to be unique. It is my opinion that tattoos, done tastefully, add to the beauty of the body. I'm not sure I'd get one myself, though. (Also, by giving away frubals, one does not lose any.)

That's a rather broad brush you're painting with there... :areyoucra I'd say whether they regret it or not all depends on the reason they got the tattoo in the first place - and I think Druidus is big enough and ugly enough to think through his reasons for wanting to get one, and come to his own decisions about whether it is right for him.

I want to get a tattoo on my lower stomach. It will say "I'm Dumb" upside down. So in 20 years I'll ask myself, why did I get a tattoo, and then I'll look at it and go.. Oh yeah!

My point was, why do something because it's trendy now, and have to live with it the rest of your life, even if you change your mind later? After this fad runs it's course, then what? The tattoo can't be washed away, it's there until you die. Sorry, but I don't understand how it can be thought that mutilating the body is, "Tasteful", or "Adds beauty", to perfectly healthy skin.

Don't get me wrong, if it's something he wants to do, fine. All I'm saying is to really consider using something temporary for awhile and later, after a few months go by, if you feel you just have to have it with you until you die, then by all means make it permanent.

As long as you're getting one because you really want one and realise that it's permanent not because it's some fad then you're fine. I would advise anyone that has a pathological need to rotate out their entire wardrobe at the end of every season to consider very carefully, but Dru is a responsible boy, and highly unlikely to just rush out and get inked because the thought has suddenly flitted through his vaccuous and pretty little head.
I have 2 tattoos and have had them for over 10 years, and not only do I not regret either of them, I plan to have at least one other one done. The first one I had done has unfortunately bled on the outline, which I've been told is because it was done too deep, but I plan to also have something else done over the top of it to cover it.

I've got three done (the oldest being 9 years old) and I've got 5 more planned,a nd 2 are really big.

I say the best way to find out what tattoo you want is to think about why you want it ...all my tattoos (except one) all represent parts of my life when I was thinking about my first tattoo I was 16 and had a couple of ideas...than BAM!!! It hit me...and for 2 years I had the design drawn up and from the day I realised what I wanted to the day I got it the excitement, and realisation it was perfect never faded at all. The only thing I regret about my tattoo's is I would like to have gotten the first one a little lower on my arm because when I add the 20 or so other characters of Bloom County to the three I have it will take some creativeness to make it look right...but I'll get it done.

Don't worry, I've been thinking about this for a while. I am certainly not doing this to appeal to other people. This is only for me.

I've run into a problem. The guy at the tattoo parlour (which is a very respectable place, by the way. They have several awards for their tattooing, and the health department examines them annually; continually finding them perfectly safe) told me that the detail of the image of the stag I brought in was too small to see when enlarged. This means he couldn't do it. :(

Therefore, I'm looking now for either a larger version of the stag, or other tattoo ideas. I'm specifically looking for either a bear, a stag, a raven, or a celtic knot design.

Thanks for the links, as well!

Can you get someone to blow it up and clear it up in photoshop or something like that?

You can make something that doesn't look good look good. I'm going to get a phenix over one of my scars from knee surgery. The scars are going to be thier until the skin is decayed, so I might as well make something that looks a bit nasty into a beutiful piece of art.

How long have you had the scars? - I had my hip done two years ago, and there is little left of the scar - over a foot long, and fastened with staples.:)

Druidus, I am shocked that you aren't even considering my excellent suggestion of getting tattooed on your bicepts with a classy lady who winks whenever you flex your muscles. :(

She's only winking this time?

And besides, I'm sure he's considering my absolutely brilliant idea involving incorporating all of them.

No no no. Dru needs the word WATCHER done in a celtic type of script wrapped around his arm;)

I want to get a tattoo as well one day. Whatever you do though Druidus, do NOT get your entire arm done! I have an uncle that has both of his arms sleaved out. Granted, he has a few cool looking ones in there, but you have to draw the line somewhere.
Imho...the black and whites look nicer then the colored ones:D
