"Giada, the inner beauty thing is just nonsense"

BSM1

What? Me worry?
Well, Nietzsche already mentioned he prefers large presents, so not everyone is overly concerned with the wrapping.

Plus, once the shiny paper is discarded, youre left with whatever lies within. So how to tell which paper contains the best gift?

Ya know, i think its a pretty good analogy for life. Just, perhaps, not in the way it was intended.

I preface my post with "all things being equal" to imply that there is no difference in the presents in the boxes. I understand the "inner beauty" sentiments, but , really, which present do you think you would naturally be drawn to if one was beautifully wrapped with care and the other was carelessly wrapped in the sports section of your local paper?

I don't remember ever receiving any gift wrapped in newspaper. So I would probably be drawn to that one since it would feel rather 'unique'.

But it is not sufficient, unfortunately. Nature is very generous to some people, and sometimes is very cruel to other people.

Saying that ugliness doesn't exist, sounds like a cruel game towards certain people, to whom nature has already been cruel enough.

True. Genetic lottery can be really bad for some.

We live in a world that privileges the most beautiful people and that's sad and unfair.

But I'm still a firm believer that even if you were dealt bad cards, you can still play a good game. Sometimes it's a matter of doing the best with what you have.

In what comes to physical appearance we can eat well, exercise, sleep, use cosmetics, etc, but all those are limited tools. In the end there is only so much we can control.

all this wrapped gifts speech actually is for hiding what most men are afraid of. Most men are afraid of being in a relationship with a sexy beautiful woman. Either because they are afraid of being cheated, or because sexy women scare them

I don't think the analogy fits. We discard wrappings very quickly. The same doesn't happen with physical beauty.
A better analogy would be: If all else was equal, would you prefer a gift that looked good ( to you ) or one that looked ugly?
I would say without a shadow of doubt that I would prefer a gift that looked good.

You may be right. Why don't you try this next Christmas (or birthday or wedding) with presents you give and watch the reactions.

Nah. It doesn't really work like that. A lot of sexy people get cheated on.

well...but I wonder why lots of men want feminine women...you know those women who have not even a spark of manhood in them.

A very handsome dancer in my country dumped his girlfriend just like that (A) and chose a sexy model. (B)
A is clearly a butch...B is clearly a real woman.

First of all, please don't say stuff like this: "B is clearly a real woman.".
That implies that A is a fake/incomplete woman. Not all the women are feminine in the way you like, but that doesn't make them any less women.

Also, I don't know A. And from this picture alone I can't say whether she is a butch. Actually, if I had to take a guess I would say she isn't a butch at all.

And more to the point: If one doesn't like people like A, then one wouldn't ever get into a relationship with them to begin with. It is far far far more likely that this change of girlfriend had nothing to do with how A looks.

I like the girl in the first picture:

This girl though. She is a little bit on the fugly side:

Glamour and sexing up is by no means appealing to me. A homely woman is the best woman

Erm.... I never wrap gifts....
The reaction, I assume, would depend on the gift itself.

I know the presents are the same? Meh...neither Xmas nor life works that way. The OP was discussing love, not mere lust, so ultimately the wrapping is gonna be fairly unimportant in the long run.

However, in the spirit with which it was meant, if all else was equal, I'd choose the attractive present. All else is never equal though.

To say that Hay85 is gay, he sure does seem to be awfully concerned with what straight men think and what women look and act like...

I'm just quoting, an Italian actress, Manuela Arcuri. she said that once on TV.
maybe it's true...given that all men dump her just like that.

okay. you might say : how can she speak for all women? u should ask her

Actually, if I understood him correctly, he is bisexual. But he is so disappointed with women that he became de facto gay.

no. I've never been attracted to women, neither sexually nor intellectually.
