A PEDOPHILE who raped a 10-year-old girl will be free in just four months after a British judge said his victim had "dressed provocatively".

Oh my stars! What the heck is the judge thinking?

"It is quite clear she is a very disturbed child and a very needy child and she is a sexually precocious child. She liked to dress provocatively," the judge said. "Did she look like she was 10? Certainly not. She looked 16."

And this gives the man the right to rape her. Why does it matter what age she is? Rape is rape and it is unacceptable. Is the Judge some all-forgiving idealist who just wants to be kind to everyone? Seriously, I would love to beat the hell out of the Judge and the Rapist.

This is outrageous! The anger I have ......how does one go about protesting this judge even though I live in another country? I do wonder if the judge wanted a part of the action himself. He has a record of being soft on rapist. How can anyone be soft on rape?

I'd love to see this judge put in stocks on the public square for eight months without clothes.

The crown prosecution service can appeal the case if it thinks a sentence is wrong.

A clearer report is shown here. Of a similar case
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/wales/south_west/6527625.stm

This sets out the law as it stands in the UK
http://newsvote.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/special_report/1999/02/99/e-cyclopedia/437789.stm

It is clear that in the case of the 10 year old it was statutory rape, But that the sentence was within the bounds set for the offence, which run from zero to life depending on the circumstances.
The circumstances of a case set the sentence given. In this case she had the sexual experience and the appearance of a 16 year old, and had suggested the sexual activity. And when asked had denied she was under age.

The fact that there is no general outcry against the sentence, indicates that when all the facts are known it was not thought an incorrect sentence.

That still shouldn't matter, rape is not acceptable in any case.

Ridiculous, and very wrong. Having said that, I do sometimes wonder what girls are thinking of when they try to dispay as much of their bodies as they reasonably can. But then, we men (and that has to include the pedophile) are responsible for our actions - and therefore it is no excuse.

I totally agree. There is no excuse for rape and the victim should never be blamed but at the same time I also wonder what the parents of some young girls these days are thinking by letting their daughters leave the house half naked. Just last night when Sastri picked me up from work and was driving me home, I pointed out a young girl to him who was dressed in a short halter top and a very, very, short skirt. The child looked like eleven!

Rape was both admitted and proven.....
He was found Guilty
The sentence is not a mandatory term in the UK
Circumstances MUST be taken into account when setting the sentence in our courts.
That is why it is called Justice not Revenge or Punishment.

If the act is consensual it isn't defined as rape. It is however illegal sex with a minor and still abhorrent. What should matter is that people should acquaint themselves with all the facts before making judgments. Here we have a minor that appears to be of age and says she is of age and makes sexual advances. The guy may be an idiot but he doesn't seem to fit the profile of a pedophile. Let's save the castrations, burning at the stake etc for the men who pick up children from the playgrounds. This is obviously what the judge had in mind when he gave sentencing.

Oh god.

I rarely, rarely say a thing like this, but I hope this judge is publicly raked through the coals and humiliated to his last. Perhaps I am bringing some bad karma on myself, but I stand by my claim: Rape survivors NEED more rights than they are given.

Statutory Rape does not mean he forced himself on her in any way.
It Just means he had sex with a girl who was under 13. If she had been 16 ( her supposed age) there would have been no problem.
In this case she led the way. so it was taken into account in the sentencing.
This is the Law in the UK. He will still be on the sex offenders register.
