Girlie Rock Playlist Help... Please

Ok, so most of you know I'm a Punk and straight up Rock n Roll connaiseur, however, not so much on the girlie music.

Now, you also know I'm producing, hosting and DJing for a Rocking ladies night in Montreal, starting this Wednesday, so I'm in need of a little help.

I've got all the Punk, Rock n Roll and Glam any one person could possibly need, but I'm a little short on other sorts of girlie rock that chicks at a Rock n Roll club would want to listen to.

So, feel like helping me out?

What would you want to hear at a ladies night?

I need lots. It can be anywhere in the Rock spectrum. Punk, Glam, Rockabilly, Psychobilly, 80's Pop Rock, Oldies etc.

Bands and specific songs, please.

Thanks :)

Yeah, I know Kittie, but I'm not sure if they're exactly the type of music that these chicks will go for.

Thanks though! :)

Ooh, I just noticed I might have caused some slight confusion as to what I meant by girlie rock.

Sorry about that, I didn't mean Girlie Rock as a genre of music, I basically just meant fun music that young chicks who're getting drunk, would get up and dance to.

From listening to Kittie, I would class them as too heavy (aka too much shouting) for a typical rock audience.

I know British and American audiences do differ quite a bit but over here girls like Greenday (anything from American Idiot, Basketcase, Longview etc); My Chemical Romance (every girl I know likes MCR no matter what else they may be into) To The End, You Know What They Do To Guys Like Us In Prison; Nirvana: Come As You Are, Smells Like Teen Spirit.

You've got rafts of bands you could use: The Chillis (Californication), Queens Of The Stone Age (The Sky Is Fallin'), Offspring (Have You Ever), NOFX (Stickin' In My Eye) Rancid (Red Hot Moon, Black Lung), Foo Fighters (Have It All, All My Life), Feeder (Choke). Ooo Wheatus (Hey Mr. Brown) and Ash (Starcrossed) are also good ones for gals :).

If you do want something a bit heavier then maybe some hard(er) rock like mid period Metallica (Until It Sleeps), later Megadeth (Safe Home) or Corrosion Of Conformity (Clean My Wounds). Or you could do some Manson (The Beautiful People).

Don't know if any of that qualifies but good luck with the play list :).

Thanks guys, you're helping a lot.

Fluffy, your suggestions are great, the only one I might probably snip from that list is MCR. The kind of chicks that come to this bar definitely won't be fans of them.

What about silly 80's pop rock-y music? You know, the fun, nostalgic music you all hear at the club and go "OMG! I haven't heard this song in FOREVER!"

Circle...look out for Stiff Little Fingers...seriously their stuff is late 70s/80s but is good all of it..if you want individual tracks i'll give you some..but its all good punk stuff..and you could always try Public Image Limited..The Clash are still COOL imo..

Thanks for the offer Lady, but I've got every album SLF and the Clash put out. Like I said, I'm a punk connaiseur. :) Though I've never been a fan pf Public Image Ltd.

It's not really Punk I'm looking for. I've got punk. I've got more 70's punk than people who were there at the time, hahaha, it's other stuff that I'm not too familiar with that I'm looking for.

And for the record, the Clash still ROCK. They always will :D

Heh, try being someone who was only born in the 80's and finding someone else your age who listens to obscure 70's punk. It's not an easy task, believe me, hahaha.

Hehehehe! I know I am. For some perspective, put it this way: My absolute favorite band in the whole world split up the year before I was even born because the lead singer killed himself, haha. That's how young I am compared to the music I listen to. It's ridiculous.

Curtain Call was great, but IMO, I'm still gonna have to go with Damned, Damned, Damned for their best.

What about Sham 69?
