Giving for Diwali

You're a racist White lady duh! I thought it was obvious. Joking aside this is a toughie the bleeding heart liberal in me is saying "Don't assume", the kind hearted Hindu in me is saying "awww how sweet."

And see, here's where I don't know if my personal experience counts, because of my privilege. During the Christmas season, strangers left and right wish me a Merry Christmas, without asking if I'm Christian or not. Now personally, it doesn't bother me because I know it's coming from a good place. But can I extend that to other people?

Blargh.
:p

We're all so curious now ... she has to go ahead and do it. FH, please don't let us down. :)

Truthfully the worst that will happen is they'll **** their heads at it, think "oh, white people." and then toss it. They are a very shy family so I doubt they'll say anything.

It's celebrated here on Thursday. Temple has a program in the afternoon-evening along with Annakut.

When strangers wish me 'Merry Christmas' I go off on this wild frenzied rant about how presumptuous and ignorant they are to assume every Tom Dick and Hari celebrates their festival, and that it's a multicultural country and its about darn time they grew some tolerance. It generally doesn't end that well.

Do you really? lol

I posted this post on my facebook just for some fun that said "I wonder if these people who say "It's merry Christmas NOT happy Holidays"people will still agree if I say merry Diwali instead. okay no more derailing I promise.

FH: I am a little jealous I won't get to go to temple for Diwali (work/its too far) I'll probably just light candles in my room and I don't know have a special puja?

Diwali falls on my and my husband's anniversary this year.I'm lucky enough to live close enough to a temple that I can go during the festivities in the afternoon and be all lovey dovey in the evening. I was away for Diwali last year. I know how you feel though. I've missed several festivals this year due to work/being sick/visiting family.

I guess it will be fine.

It won't be. Aliens will invade. And HBO will cancel the second season of True Detective.

It'll be armageddon all over again, only there will be no Bruce Willis this time to save us all.

We're all so curious now ... she has to go ahead and do it. FH, please don't let us down. :)

She's going on my ignore list if she doesn't give the card.
