God and the limits

Yes, God could create a power that does that, but he doesn't need to -- since mankind has already taken care of that. It's called illusion, or error. We can easily create illusions, that although they may not actually exist within fundamental reality, can seem very real for us on the level of experience -- and can serve to limit our experience of reality if we form them into absolutes and then apply them to ourselves, each other, science, life, etc.

I think that we all are likely to do that about some things and at some times. I do not exclude myself from the propensity to be fooled by self-created illusions or false assumptions, nor do I see that scientists are necessarily exempt from it, either.

Do you mean like imagining the existence of a god, for instance?
I consider that a very valid question, considering the statement I quoted here. I would be more than happy to discuss the reasonableness of a belief in god, if you would like to start a thread.

Oh, I think I see where you are coming from. Am I correct in assuming that do not think that a person can have a belief in the existence of God, without it necessarily functioning as a limit to their understanding of many aspects of life and reality -- and science?

I would be interested in furthering this conversation with you in another thread. Would you be willing to do it in the form of a one-on-one conversation, so that we may be able to get a better understanding of each other's perspective without a lot of distraction?

If so, are you okay with this title: Belief in God, or Not

(Just curious, I noted that the quote function would have shown my entire name, yet when you quoted me recently my name appears reduced to a less than complimentary abbreviation. Was that a "gotcha back" for my using the term bait with the name fishy? If so, I understand. I deserved it.) ;)

If God is omnipotent and has unlimited power which means he can do whatever he wants no matter how meaningless impossible absurd etc .
If he is can he do the following
Create something bigger then unlimited endless boundless
If he can't do this can he create a power that can do this
Both of these things would be no challenge for a omnipotent God
This tired old argument.
"Could God create a rock so big he couldn't move it?"

Fishy, I have been waiting on a response from you, and it occurs to me that you may be waiting on me. I think that it would be presumptive of me to establish a one-on-one thread without your indicating that you are inclined to participate in that particular type of discussion. If you wish to do so, please indicate it here.

If you think we can wrap it up with a simply acknowledgement that a person may have other reasons for a belief in God that are valid, even if you do not agree with them or even know what they are, that would be fine with me, too.
