I have never heard of that idea before. Although, Satan has no power but what God gives him (Job 1:6-9, 12; 1 Kings 22; Revelation 4:11, etc.).
So God could just take away his power, and then there would be no temptation? Isn't that the same difference as God tempting us? What's the point in that?

God gave us the power to choose. God wants us to choose to recognize the sacrifice of Jesus. He allows Satan to tempt us because without temptation there is no choice.

Is this directed to me?

If not sorry, if so, here is my reply:

So what if Satan quit? If there was no Satan would God's almighty plan be foiled? Are you suggesting then that God needs Satan in order for us as humans to get back to God? There is no other way?

Again this is personifying Satan as an entity. Satan is a part of everyone of us and exists nowhere but in our personality. God has no partners, nor equals, His power and might are not conferred upon any part of His creation, they are His alone.

Satan is the voice within that calls us to follow our base nature - the call of ego above servitude.

Why do people give external personification to such an intimate part of themselves?

Scott

I understand what you are saying, but please understand that I am doing this for debate purposes only. I don't personify Satan, as I don't believe there *is* a satan.
I agree with your assertation that God needs no partners, in fact, I frubled you for saying so in an earlier post. *If* I felt that there was evidence for God this would be the direction I would lean, as I fail to understand why God needs Satan. If he is all powerful, he needs no one else to "tempt" us, and if he does indeed lend his powers to Satan in order for us to be tempted, that is still essentially God tempting us. I fail to see a need for Satan in religion at all.
