Since atheists generally believe those things exists, then those theists wonder why atheists don't believe God(banana &c.) exists. Well, if someone is just using different words to signify different things, then that may be just (mis)using language, but it wouldn't be evidence to prove anything about any physical object or state of being.

God is a banana? I'm not even sure what that means. I guess Chiquita Banana would be the Mother of God in that scenario. In any case, I am a strong believer in freedom of religion, so I respect anyone's right to worship bananas if they so choose.

When they say Atheist don’t believe God exist, they are referring to a specific view of God. The reality is there are lots of things and people (like nature, the Sun, people as real as you and I) who are called God by worshipers that atheists do believe exist, but don’t call God.

to seek the Lord, if perhaps they might feel after Him and might find Him, though indeed He not being far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and exist, as also some of the poets among you have said, For we are also His offspring.

It is also said that God is spirit and love:

God is a spirit, and the ones worshiping Him must worship in spirit and truth.
John 4:24

Beloved, let us love one another, because love is of God, and everyone who loves has been born of God, and knows God. The one who does not love has not known God, because God is love.

Because the theists don't make the claim that god exists, they make the claim that an existing thing is equal to god. The atheists rejects that claim.

It may seem that way if examined superficially. But deification is an appellation that indicates a particular sort of relationship the deifier has with that deified. More specifically, it indicates the subject doing the deification considers something worthy of worship, or sacred. This is not an empty tautology - if someone deifies all reality, it means they have a sacred or worshipful relationship with the universe as a whole.

If everything is God, nothing is God.

I don't know why that would be, but since God is not everything it doesn't really matter.
