Hello again. I was wondering if someone could explain the relation ship of God, Jesus and the holy spirit. Is Jesus our god or is heavenly father our god? Do we pray to them both or are they one in the same. Where does the holy spirit fit into all this. I know LDS church doesnt have a trinity as such. So I need some clarification to understand the churches stance on it all
thanks all
Hi, Lion. I'm glad you spotted the sticky. Hopefully, it helped clarify our belief. I'll just add a couple of quick thoughts that may address your specific questions in more detail. I think the OP of the sticky thread probably explained the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Ghost fairly well (of course I would think that -- it was my thread
), but in terms of who we pray to, we pray to our Father in Heaven, because that is what Jesus Christ asked us to do. Just prior to offering what has become known to all Christians as "the Lord's Prayer," He said, "After this manner, pray ye..." He then began by saying, "Our Father who art in Heaven." Even though we pray specifically to our Father in Heaven, we close each prayer "in the name of Jesus Christ" because He is our mediator with the Father. It is through the Holy Ghost that our prayers are conveyed to God, since we, as mortal beings, are told to worship God "in spirit." He (the Holy Ghost) is the means by which we have been given the means to communicate with God.
