God, jesus, holy Spirit

Hello again. I was wondering if someone could explain the relation ship of God, Jesus and the holy spirit. Is Jesus our god or is heavenly father our god? Do we pray to them both or are they one in the same. Where does the holy spirit fit into all this. I know LDS church doesnt have a trinity as such. So I need some clarification to understand the churches stance on it all :)

thanks all

Hi, Lion. I'm glad you spotted the sticky. Hopefully, it helped clarify our belief. I'll just add a couple of quick thoughts that may address your specific questions in more detail. I think the OP of the sticky thread probably explained the relationship between the Father, Son and Holy Ghost fairly well (of course I would think that -- it was my thread ;)), but in terms of who we pray to, we pray to our Father in Heaven, because that is what Jesus Christ asked us to do. Just prior to offering what has become known to all Christians as "the Lord's Prayer," He said, "After this manner, pray ye..." He then began by saying, "Our Father who art in Heaven." Even though we pray specifically to our Father in Heaven, we close each prayer "in the name of Jesus Christ" because He is our mediator with the Father. It is through the Holy Ghost that our prayers are conveyed to God, since we, as mortal beings, are told to worship God "in spirit." He (the Holy Ghost) is the means by which we have been given the means to communicate with God.

We pray to God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, and receive our answers to prayer through the Holy Ghost/Spirit.

Jesus Christ is God the Son. We worship him as we would God the Father, they being equal, one in purpose.

The Holy Ghost is God the Father and God the Son's spirit extended to man, in my opinion.

I always like to see what you reply with, Katzpur, but this section made me pause...and actually confused me a bit. I'm not sure what you were trying to say, but as far as I am interpreting what you wrote I have to say I disagree. If the Holy Ghost gives us the means to pray why do we do it in the name of Jesus Christ? I don't think the Holy Ghost gives us the means to pray TO God but to hear communication back FROM God. What do you think?

You're right, Emily. I could have worded that better. The Holy Ghost is the Revelator. Consequently, it is through Him that we receive answers to our prayers. Thanks for pointing that out.

I think the Holy Spirit helps me pray, especially in wordless, formless prayer. God knows my prayer better than I do!
