"The second commandment that Jesus referred to was not to love others instead of ourselves, but to love them as ourselves. Before we can love and serve others, we must love ourselves, even in our imperfection. If we don't embrace our own defects, we can't love others with their shortcomings."

God does love all of us, but that does not mean He does not have expectations and standards for us. There are many examples of God chastising and punishing people in order to get them to change.

How about a quote from God Himself:
>
"I shine like diamonds in the eyes of all creatures. It is My sweetness in the flowers of springtime and My chill on the winds of winter. I am in everything, yet beyond all. I am your Father and your Mother, and you will always be My children. No matter what you do--even reject me--I will always accept you and love you completely. How can I do otherwise! There is no separation between us! You are resting on my bosom, and I am always here to comfort you!"

When you love someone, you naturally wish for them to experience their full potential. In is world, there are many people whoo are very frustrated because they secretly yearn to experience their full potential but don't know how to go about it.

Responding with love in very situation can be quite the challenge! The trick is to grateful for the challenge.

Does God love us so much that if we sin we won't burn in eternal hellfire, regardless of what sins we commit?

Also since God can see the past present and future, does he love us so much that he would create us knowing that we would sin, and yet still get pissed at us when we do sin? Possibly punishing us for something we were determined to do by him? Doesn't seem very fair. Seems more like entrapment and trolling.

"You have forgotten what it was like to be loved without condition. You do not remember the experience of the love of God. And so you try to imagine what God's love must be like, based on what you see of love in the world."

~ from "Conversations with God" by Neale Donald Walsch

"Perfect love is rare indeed - for to be a lover will require that you continually have the subtlety of the very wise, the flexibility of the child, the sensitivity of the artist, the understanding of the philosopher, the acceptance of the saint, the tolerance of the scholar and the fortitude of the certain."

"But most people of earth today are practicing conditional love by default. Often this default pattern occurs due to the fact that people do not mentally know any other way to love because conditional love that is the kind of love which was demonstrated to them throughout the majority of their lives."

where does that scripture come from? Doesnt sound like one from the Bible that i can recall.

The bible tells us that we are certainly created in the image of God... and he expects us to live up to that image. So some conditions must apply. The conditions were applied to Adam and Eve....they had to respect Gods rulership and obey his command if they wanted to remain alive forever in the garden of Eden.
They failed, and were removed which shows that God does have conditions and he does expect us to abide by them.

It's not from the Bible. It is the result of years of meditation & contemplation on the true nature of love.

Have a good one!
