Not all theists "serve" god.

To suggest that those who "serve" god are happiest,
is just silly.

if you don't mind me asking, can you tell me about temple and sacrifices? where would that temple be? was there a temple before? if yes, when and where was it? what are sacrifices? what is Shemita year?

He is referring to the Temple of Solomon in Jerusalem. It was first destroyed by the Babylonians, and than re-built after Cyrus allowed the Jews to return to their country from exile. It was destroyed a second time by the Romans in 70 CE. Jews believe the Messiah will build a third temple, and the services will begin with the sacrifice of a red heifer. The shemita year is a sabbatical year. According to the Torah, on the seventh year there is to be no work on the farms. Modern Jews don't practice this anymore, but according to Judaism, when the Messiah comes this practice will be reinstituted.

i don't know what it reminded you. Bush thinks he is serving God. there've been many killers who said God told them to do so. i believe there is a difference between thinking and actually doing it.

quote from Yid613

"We believe in the coming of a Messiah who will:
  • Bring back the reign of the Jews to be again under that of the descendents of King David.
  • Rebuild the Holy Temple and bring the Jews dispersed in the Diaspora back to the Land of Israel.
  • Re-imposition of Jewish law as it was during the time of the Sanhedrian, the Great Assembly that existed during the time of the Holy Temples.
  • The sacrifices will be renewed in the Temple as will the observance of the laws of the seventh year.
  • The Shemita year dealing with agricultural products and monetary loans, and all the other laws which today are no longer observed, will be brought back into effect.
He will not be savior in the xtain sense. We are ourselves responsible for our own sins.Following this will be the World to Come, a time of a more spiritual existence"

sorry Yid613, for my technical deficiencies.

From the Abrahamic Religions topics, Lost Tribes of Israel, and God loves us all......

* fair enough, I agree that the Messiah will bring back the reign of King David, however, It will be over all people, not just the 1/12 tribe of Judah.

* Yes, He will rebuild the Holy temple, but he will gather the lost tribes of Israel, not just the tribe of Judah.
Judah has already been brought back to the land of Israel, with the help of Ephraim and Mannassah.
But also, God has begun gathering the rest of Israel. This is one reason that i know that i was a lost sheep.
How about you open your mind for a second, and think about that?
Judah seems to think they are so alone, and so special.

*Well i dont know what these words mean, like Diaspora, and Sanhedrian. But i do know when my Father calls me back to Him.

*And your sacrifices...."The sacrifices will be renewed in the Temple as will the observance of the laws of the seventh year."
I can't pretend to know what that means.
Since i was a child, yes a child! I asked how the Jews constituted their laws, such as, a woman leaving her home and going into the wilderness for the 7 days of her period.
I asked, Do they still sacrifice animals?
I begged to know if the Jewish faith was the only one following the old testament.
Well, as far as i can tell, they still claim to follow the old testament. But as many times as i've asked, not one member of the tribe of Judah has been able to answer me why their women do not leave towards the wilderness 7 days of the month.
I struggle with the clean and dirty meats, for i never eat shellfish, or pork. But as for beef, i most certainly eat it with cheese.
Don't get me wrong, my brother Judah(though i know you will attack me anyhow), I feel so very close to you, and you are always in my spirit. I will always support the country of Israel in all your endeavors.

*The observance of the laws of the seventh year? Again, no idea what that means.
I most definately believe that that Sabbath is from Friday sundown, until Saturday Sundown. And i am sure that all crops must be rested on the seventh year.
So why? Why Judah?
Why do you reject me? Has God hidden me from my brethren so far that you may only recognize yourselves, but too far for you to ever know me?

*I do not know what Shemita year dealing with agricultural products means. But i do know that every 50 years or so, in God's kingdom, all loans will be disregarded.
As far as all the other laws which today are no longer in effect, well If it is our Lord's will, then it will be so in His Kingdom.
I beg you, tribe of Judah, why do you forsake us!
It brings to mind our ancestors, Joseph and Judah. Why would you Judah, leave me in this pit?!
Leave it to Reuben(France) to acknowledge me!
Are you still so arrogant, Judah, that you still don't recognize God when He speaks to you?

Ilias Ahmad knows his stuff, but they do keep shemita in Israel. As it only applies to Jews the fields can be sold before shemita and bought back after. In this way it still can be worked.

The Jews today are not the tribe of Judah. Tribal identity has been lost except for the Kohanim and Levim. Those who are not Kohanim or Levim are referred to as Yisraelim.

I am familiar with some of the theories about the lost tribes. Even if they are true their descendants would have lost their tribal identify through intermarriage. Tribal identify is pass on through the father but only if one is Jewish. One is Jewish only if their mother is Jewish. It’s not about DNA or physical inheritance, it’s a spiritual inheritance.

Since i was a child, yes a child! I asked how the Jews constituted their laws, such as, a woman leaving her home and going into the wilderness for the 7 days of her period.
But as many times as i've asked, not one member of the tribe of Judah has been able to answer me why their women do not leave towards the wilderness 7 days of the month.
At the first sign of blood a women separates from, reframes from sex with, her husband. After 7 clean days she immerses in a Mikva (ritual bath) she can then resume sexual relations with her husband. To prevent temptation during this time they may also sleep in separate beds.

When the Temple was standing it was possible to achieve a higher degree of ritual purity. But this only needed to be done by those performing the service. In this case a greater separation would be needed, but they would not send their wives off to the wilderness. However those serving in the Temple worked in shifts so they would not need to maintain this level of purity all the time.

I asked, Do they still sacrifice animals?
We are prohibited from offering sacrifices except in the Temple. As the Temple no longer stands we can only fulfill some of the aspect of the commandment. We can study and teach it. We can offer prayers and charity in its place.

So why? Why Judah?
Why do you reject me?
What does xtainity teach about those who do not follow its laws, eternal damnation.

What does Judaism teach, if nations but keep the 7 laws given to Noah (AskNoah - The Seven Laws of Noah) they also have a place in the World to Come.

all of this information about signs of Jesus(PBUH) in Judaism, there is nothing about Christianity or Muslims? would he return only for followers of Judaism?

I am still absorbing and studying your reply, thank you for taking the time to respond.
The first question that i have for you, is moot, i suppose,
because i also study the new testament.
I believe that God has indeed "begun to gather His lost sheep", which includes revealing the lost tribes.
What does this xtainity mean? Please explain.
Although i don't know what that means, I do feel God in my spirit, and soul.

What He speaks to me is that there is no eternal damnation for anyone that seeks to learn from Him, for He will judge us when we stand before Him.
It is when we stand before God,that He will judge, and the non-believers will finally decide if they have awe in their spirit for Him.
If so, then they will not be sent to eternal damnation.
It is really hard, Yid, to talk to you about this. We both have such fundamental differences.
As always, i know that i can never be completely right.
I respect you immensely, i only hope that you can entertain the idea that the entire Jewish faith is not perfect.
But even if you do think so, i still respect you as a child of God.

It doesn't matter to me, truly, the signs of Jesus in Christianity, Judaism, or Islam.
I cannot possibly conceive of the idea that there is one true man-made religion on the face of this earth.
Only God Himself offers His Truth, and it is only offered to those that are willing to ask Him personally.

As far as i can tell, Mohammed(pardon any mispelling) started the Islamic religion, even if the Muslims believe that God initiated it.
Well, he was a man, and i am certain that all men are flawed.
As far as i can tell, men changed both the Jewish and Christian religions as well, according to their "needs" throughout history.

Why do the Jewish eat meat without cheese?
By all means dear Jews, show me the bible scripture about this, i'm ignorant here, because i have yet to find it.
Forbidden pork, shellfish, etc., yes i know where that bible scripture is, and i believe it.

I can honestly say, that although i claim Jesus Christ as my Savior, i am horrified by the actions of the earliest Christians in spreading Christianity.
They have obviously slaughtered Christ's and His apostles early teachings.
I am dissapointed in mans continual traditions and the changes that they have passed down from generation to the next, ever since the first few centuries.
I am disqusted with the Christian traditions that are born of pagen blasphemies, such as Christmas, and Easter.

It's so odd to me, how people believe that God tells each of us, that have so much faith in Him, such seemingly different truths.
I don't think that most people are strong enough to get past their childhood religious teachings, to open their minds to God directly.
I believe in my spirit that we are each offered milk or meat, according to how much we desire to truly hear of Him.

And I disagree with the opinion that those who serve God are the happiest.
I know many people who are happy without a God belief.

I'm pretty happy while not believing in god... But what would you have to do in order to "serve god?" Like, do you have to believe in him, or can you just not be a jerk and he would consider your behaviour a service??

I'm pretty happy while not believing in god...
My happiness is not dependant on god or any belief in or servitude to any deity.

But what would you have to do in order to "serve god?"
That depends entirely upon how big a prude the believer makes their deity out to be.
Some believe that merely the belief in and worship of is sufficient.
Others believe that you must walk the thin and narrow line, every single rule and regulation must be followed to the letter.

Like, do you have to believe in him, or can you just not be a jerk and he would consider your behaviour a service??
This depends upon the believers.
I know a few people that believe as such.

I even know some who claim that you do not even have to believe, just live your life in good way and you will be granted access to heaven.

It is an abbreviation, xmas, xtain, xtainity, . . .

It is when we stand before God,that He will judge, and the non-believers will finally decide if they have awe in their spirit for Him.
If so, then they will not be sent to eternal damnation.
So some will suffer for eternally, how could a loving Father do that to his children no matter how bad they have been. We have gehinnom it is similar to your purgatory but ones time there is limited to one year and its purpose is more rehabilitory rather than punitive.

By all means dear Jews, show me the bible scripture about this, i'm ignorant here, because i have yet to find it.
The choicest of the first fruits of your soil you shall bring to the house of the Lord, your God. You shall not cook a kid in its mother's milk. - Shemot (Exodus) 23:19

The choicest of the first of your soil you shall bring to the house of the Lord, your God. You shall not cook a kid in its mother's milk." - Shemot (Exodus) 34:26

You shall not eat any carcass. You may give it to the stranger who is in your cities, that he may eat it, or you may sell it to a foreigner; for you are a holy people to the Lord, your God. You shall not cook a kid in its mother's milk. - Devarim (Deuteronomy) 14:21

The Oral law, also given to Moses on Mt Sinai, explains these verses to mean any milk meat combination is prohibited.

The not being a jerk part is probably the most important. Noah was given seven laws one who keeps them would be considered righteous.

  • Do Not Worship Idols
  • Do Not Blaspheme
  • Do Not Murder
  • Do Not Have Forbidden Relations
  • Do Not Steal
  • Don't Eat Flesh Taken From a Live Animal
  • Set Up Courts to Uphold Laws

Do Not Worship Idols
Aren't all other Gods considered "idols," though?
Do Not Blaspheme
Define blasphemy.

Do Not Murder
OK, this is a good one. :)

Do Not Have Forbidden Relations
Define "forbidden relations."
Do Not Steal
Don't Eat Flesh Taken From a Live Animal
Set Up Courts to Uphold Laws
No complaints with these.

If the majority of the world believes ---- is not the thin and narrow or high road the road of the atheist? Isnt this really just a subjective argument that anyone can interpret to mean almost anything...

I would reccomend some research on bizzare popular philosphies... like only fools rush in and good things come to those that wait however he who hesitates is lost.

Im not implying Im right I'm just pointing out that the majority of time there are things you agree with and that the sound right that contradict the same and were designed much of the time to do so. Masses and controlling them are a fickle affair. ;)

What the "majority" believes/wants is not my concern.
I am concerned with what is right and wrong
As far as the atheist is concerned...
I know many an atheist.
And like theists they range from the die hard there is no God period, to the other extreme of yeah well their might be a God.

Is what a subjective argument?

Those are philosophies?
I do not think of them as such.
I see them as merely something to say when you really have nothing to say.

Ever heard of 'conditional modifiers'?

For non-Jews there is a bit of wiggle room. If the other gods are just asistance of G-d this is considered incorrect but not in violation of this law.

Define blasphemy.
Being a jerk as related to G-d ;).

Taking the L-ds name in vain.

Define "forbidden relations."
Being a jerk in bed ;).

Incest and homosexuality (I know many people don’t like this one but don’t jump on me about it. I did not come up with it, G-d did not even ask me my opinion on it. Complain directly to the Author :)).
