gods will?

ok i know there have been posts before about free will and predestination but there are so many replies its hard to find the reply to your question so heres my own...

when something bad happens to someone that was a good person alot of times you hear someone say it was gods will.... w hen someone does something great it's gods will and god had a plan for that person...

so i guess my question would have to be if we have feel will but we are doing things according to "gods plan" and when things happen it's his will then which one has priority? free will or gods will?

I'm not so sure about all that "it's God's will" stuff; but, I do believe that if a person is a Christian, Romans 8:28 tells me that "...in all things God works for the good of those who love him...". Sometimes the things we think as "bad" may not be so bad for us in the long run. And also Jeremiah 1:5, tells me that before we were born God knew us. Then in Psalm 91:14, it tells me that God knows our names. So, I guess we are pretty important to Him. However, I believe in evil and that it can have a negative affect on us. Sometimes we have to suffer the consequences for our own bad decisions and actions. God doesn't stop those things from happening. We just have to study to see if we are really doing things according to His plan and not just doing some "man's" opinion/plan. Many people think that they are...and in truth, they are far from doing so....

i like this explanation about god and the devil and free will:
take two magnets one represents god the other the devil. you place the two on a surface and that surface represents free will. then you take a paper clip that you... the paper clip or you find a five dollar bill that a person dropped, now you have a choice to give it back or keep it the devil will influence you to keep it, but God will do the same to give it back to the person either way you get a reward... what ever you choise the magnet will come closer to you, if you keep it you choose to take to the law of man; to give it back to the person you chose to fallow the commandment of god thus the will of god... the two magnets pull you back and forth creating confect within ourselves... when you do the right thing for God you feel good and earn praise from god and blessings; if you do the bad thing by keeping the money then you receive the money displeasing god and being liked by the devil; either way you have a choice, its your to take…

peroration is dealing with a being (God) that can perceive all of matter and energy at the same time thus know what we will do before we do...

hope this helps…

ok different strategy........ do you agree god has a plan for you?

Yes I do (hope you don't mind my poking my nose in); I believe he has the same plan for me as he does for every other living creature......to become like him. That can be the only goal, the only focus.

I agree with your confusion about what people say. "How did God permit the hurricane?".....that type of blaming God is a good way of excusing ghastly events.........blame it on God....why not? he's not here to defend himself.

The trouble is of course, that God has nothing to do with these disasters. Then there is the "Thank God I caught the right train!".............I don't think it takes much thought to realize that God had nothing to do with it.

The strange thing is that athiests can often be heard using such expressions.

To my mind, God's will is pure and simple:- That we should all 'grow' spiritually, until we are at the same level as he is.

ok i see what you mean but still not quite what i mean.... i mean there are people who believe that everything happens for a purpose.... to teach a lesson... to make you stronger... all these events they see as gods plan for them ... gods will... but if everything in your life is part of gods great plan for you then it is gods will we are following not our own... "thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven" there just doesnt seem to be much room in there for free will

I believe that God has presented me with an opportunity. This is similar to a plan in that I suppose you could say that if I always did what God wished me to do then I would come to the place at which God wished me to be. However, the difference is that I am not forced to follow God's plan, I can get on and off as I choose.

but wouldnt you jumpin on and off as you chose also be part of gods plan? according to everything i understand he knows what you will do before you do it... he has a plan for you.... so how is "choosing" to follow or not follow what you think is gods plan free will? or is it just a nice delusion to make it seem like you do have a choice?
