Going for a mile in my swimming pool...

So I have been working on this for a few weeks and I am not there yet. I have to swim 70 laps to make a mile, and I can only comfortably do 35. Wish me luck, as I am also trying to ride my bike right afterwords.

Anyone else on here able to swim a mile?

Yes, I can swim a few miles, but sometimes I tread water or float. I've swam in rivers before.

Good luck!

I did a mile and a half back in Boy Scouts, but lately my endurance exercise stuff has been distance biking. I'm no randonneur, but I can do a century; I complete the MS-150 in April (Houston to Austin in 2 days - 175 miles).

It would be neat to do something like that.

I can easily swim a few miles leisurely, but I should have pointed out in the thread swimming constantly at a brisk pace freestyle for a mile is another beast all together.

I just invested in an urban bike made by Scott, it isn't the best, but man is it nice and comfy for long bike rides...

I only got to 30 laps today, shoulder is soar from too much swimming I think...

I never swim, so I have zero endurance. Good for you! I have a healthy respect for swimmers ~ it's exhausting.

I know it seems like an oxy-moron to think the best swimmer of all time is an avid pot smoker, but I wonder if he just gets stoned and zones out and just swims and swims and swims, takes break, eats a brownie, and swims and swims and swims, and.... you get the point :D

Oh MY! my own personal cheering section, why didn't I think of this before. Would you girls mind wear bikinis while you cheer :D

So, I got over half a mile today, non-stop freestyle. It felt great, then I jumped right into the jacuzzi, ahhhh poor muscles...

Could do a mile last year, did a lot of fitness stuff for my 2nd Dan karate grading...but LOL I've just been generally lazy for a few months, ate ridiculous amounts of pizza, lost ridiculous amounts of fitness...1/2 a mile would probably be a struggle now :D

Off to swim, spent an hour or two last night cleaning the pool since I was out of town for a few days. It is nice and clean, cold and refreshing. I can feel that mile approaching. Or is that a back ache?
