Good book for a 5 year old interested in architecture and science.

Keeping in mind he is just starting to read, does anyone have a recommendation of a good factual book on science for that age group- 5-6 years, that was also a bit fun.

This is a decent list:

Amazon.com: love2learn - Great science books for kids

Didn't search by age group or anything but these don't look too bad... If the book has a lot of colorful pictures, it would be interesting and fun.

I used to have a bunch as a kid but I can't remember the names of the books. If I remember any, I will definitely post them!

I'm not sure about good architecture books for kids but I like Shermer's Teach Your Child Science (sorry, the Amazon.uk didn't have a pic so I used the N. American Amazon) as an introduction to arranging tests. The book should be good for a 5 year old but it's geared more towards helping the child conduct science experiments than something to quietly sit down and read.

Having to actively participate and spend time with a 5 year old is the main drawback to my recommending this book.

Been taking my kids to Boarders and Waldens since they could walk. Let them pick the books. They have great science sections and you get to read the books there so if you don't like them you don't buy them.

My kids ask to go to the book store. Its one thing I don't have to worry about.

It's a christmas present for my friends kid, so I won't be able to get him to pick it out himself. I'll look into the suggestions, thanks.

Kids are specific about what they like at that age. I would suggest talking to the friend. If you do pick a certain book they may not be interested as yet.

I know he wants to be an architect and is very good at drawing, and he has asked me some questions about evolution and magnets and as I said recently learned to read and likes the independence of it, his mum will tell me not to get him anything if I ask. I think a factoidy kind of book is what he would love. Something like horrible histories but about science is what I was hoping to find but so far everything is a couple of years ahead of him.

I was hoping someone might have a brilliant book they had given their own kid, I guess there is still time.

You get horrible science books I used to read them as a kid though they may be a bit advanced for a five year old.
