He added: "Since the wind doesn't blow 24 hours a day, we'll also broaden our purchases to a variety of energy sources that can enable renewable power, every hour of every day."

A lot of the same we have already discussed. Also, sharing and spreading this kind of news is important. Spend money with companies that invest in renewables and let them know that is why you are purchasing their products. Write to other companies encouraging them to do the same.

Google can control what people believe to be true better than anybody, even Trump. I would not believe something simply because Google said it, any more than I would believe something just because the Roman Catholic Church said it.

This argument can be used against any sort of data driven argument on the internet, but it is equally as weak. Google did not publish this article. I believe this was based on a blog or press conference. Sure, I suppose they could lie about it. But to what end? Who knows more about Googles energy consumption better than Google themselves? I suppose I could do independent research and travel to the Google sites to verify the OP. However, given that it has widespread coverage on a variety of news outlets and sources... I will just accept it at face value for now.

Something else that deserves credit IMO is the semiconductor industry, which has done a great job of reducing power consumption in modern CPU, GPU, and microcontroller architectures. Pretty important in today's world.
