GOP motto these days. My tribe, right or wrong.

GOP motto these days. My tribe, right or wrong.

I have noted that many Republicans are saying that they cannot support Trump’s position on many issues but will hold their noses as they vote for him anyway.

This looks to me to be the Republicans putting their own interests ahead of the countries.

Sure, they say that an odious Republican is better than any Democrat to justify their vote for Trump but I just see it as personal interest being put ahead of the needs and reputation of the countries.

Please bear in mind that being Canadian, I do not have a horse in your race, so Republicans selling their souls to Satan/Trump has no effect on me. Mind you, I like how he would deal with Muslims.

What do you think of the new GOP motto; My tribe or party right or wrong?

I think you can apply that to many in both parties.

Have I ever mentioned that I think Godzillary is the "rotten to the core" product of our primitive and corrupt political system? That she is violent, deceitful, and above all ambitious? That she will stop at nothing to get her way?

And those are her good attributes! Because a President who is not will get chewed up and spit out by Washington DC, like Obama has. Like "Jimmy the Christian" Carter was.
So I'm going to vote for her.

Every party, not just the main two.
AND there have been people doing just that for as long as there has been voting.

So much for their pledge of allegiance and you do not seem to care that they go against it by voting their party instead of their conscience.

No wonder the quality of politicians is near rock bottom.

Both sides have a long history of placing partisanship loyalty before ethics and principles.

And their pledge of allegiance.

Not supporting ones party is how disfavor is shown and how a party knows it has to improve.

In a sense, when a party has gone rotten, to point out that rottenness to the hierarchy is how you ask for them to get to improving their thinking. That is the real loyal thing to do if one is thinking long term.

Not when it is exclusively, from what I have seen, the Republican hierarchy shown by the media as holding their noses while saying they will support Trump.

Many tell me they're holding their noses to vote for the Hildabeast too.
Oh, well.....Trump is better than McCain by far.
(How's that for a left handed compliment?)

They may be telling you but they are not the Democratic hierarchy doing as the Republicans hierarchy are doing on national T V.

If nothing else, that shows that the Democratic heads have more couth.

Hate to burst your little ego bubble, but I do not have anywhere near that much influence on politics.
That you are all surprised by your recent discovery of something that has been happening for decades, is almost as entertaining as your failed assumptions.

What's an alternative strategy during election time that you think would work differently than what you are being critical of? Or I guess explain how a Republican would put country's interest ahead of Republican interest and that works out for Republicans. Use any political issue that makes sense to you. I can think of a couple, just wondering if you can and would be willing to explain it.

Sure, they say that an odious Republican is better than any Democrat to justify their vote for Trump but I just see it as personal interest being put ahead of the needs and reputation of the countries.

As others have said, that motto is not new. I think most countries on the planet would appear to put own interests ahead of world interests, and in so doing would be skeptical of any individual representing 'world interests.'

All these issues cut at least two ways (if highly aware of the partisan politics at work) and probably at least three ways if willing to tolerate a middle ground where independents reside. But that third way will be quickly relegated to one of the two depending on the issue. Take 10 issues into account and the middle ground will be pigeonholed into something else entirely, i.e. libertarian.
