Where abortion is legal, insurers can cover it,

And where it isn't....they can't. For the 5th time.

but it really doesn't matter much anyway since it's legal in 36 states.

It matters to the people who don't live in those states. And to people who live in other states where it's partially or mostly illegal.

Between Medicaid and tax credits, which I've linked to but won't go back to look for (sorry, but I'm just not interested enough to do so), I believe it was a CNN article though, the tax payer is still subsidizing abortions.

So what?

Where abortion is illegal, insurers can't cover it.

Thus the legislation. Which Republicans shot down.

It was on fire when I laid down on it.
I guess I could say something and tell you how many times I said it too, but I won't do that, mainly because I am not keeping up with it - LOL. Why does it matter, by the way, to the people who do not live in those states where it's still legal or mostly legal (which is most states I might add, including the one I live in)?

Why do things matter to us that don't directly affect us? Is that actually your question?

No, see above.

I'm not seeing an edit that would change my clarifying question.

By the way, don't you live in Texas?

Abortion policies currently in effect in Texas include the following:

  • Abortion is completely banned with very limited exceptions
  • Patients forced to make two trips—one for in-person counseling and another at least 24 hours later for the abortion
  • Patients forced to get an ultrasound even if medically unnecessary
  • State Medicaid coverage of abortion care is banned except in very limited circumstances
  • Private health insurance of abortion is banned except in very limited circumstances
  • Medication abortion must be obtained in person because state bans the use of telehealth or requires in-person visit
  • Parental consent is required for a minor’s abortion
  • Parental notice is required for a minor’s abortion
  • Only physicians can provide abortions and not other qualified health care professionals
  • Medication abortion is restricted through unnecessary regulations
  • Unnecessary regulations are in force and designed to shutter abortion clinics without basis in medical standards

No, I don't live in Texas and haven't since the first part of April.

Elsewhere, and abortion is legal here. I've been very clear about moving by the way. Also, I found Texas to be too restrictive in many ways, and way too hot. I am not originally from there.

I've been less active on the site lately. I don't follow your every post. ;) Glad you found a place that's freer.

I experienced a wee bit'o Texas weather
in Ohio yesterday....it felt like Houston.
Hot & humid. Do not bring it with you!
Meanwhile it's even hotter in NE Texas! And I believe it's going to get even hotter by Wednesday in Ohio.

LOL maybe you should start, who knows? Meanwhile, all I can do is post repeatedly that I moved in April. You did remember, however, that I lived in Texas, which is nice I guess.

yup and it should be a woman's right to choose, you as a Catholic can choose not to, but you should not get to choose for everybody else.
I should get to choose whether or not I pay for the abortions of others however.

I don't know why we are talking about abortion anyway. The thread is about IVF.

Because you posted that polemical article from Forbes.

And you say you left Texas because you felt restricted, that is sort of what this whole thing is about, not letting governments restrict us.
