grace or law- confused!

currently- god is changing my perception of his love- i have been following the new covenant grace teaching and i can say that scripture has entered new realms of wonder for me. i see things totally different now- where i used to believe god was still judging me for my sin i now see he has judged jesus for it and i am free from condemnation. likewise- because jesus took all punishment for all sin- gods forgiveness is not dependent on confession of individual sins- he has forgiven me. done deal. when i run up on scripture that seems to contradict these beliefs i ask and wait for an answer as to how this particular verse fits in. i'm stumped on acts 8:20-24. i understand it if it would have stopped at 'repent'- to change ones mind from worldy kingdom thinking to kingdom of god thinking. but he didn't. the part that has me stumped is v.22. how can god judge a sin that jesus paid for- if there is no longer 'law' (rom.4:15, 10;4) to those who are in christ there cannot be transgression. help. thank you.

Hello, Disciple. It's possible that I am misunderstanding the reason for your confusion, but it appears as it you believe that you are free on condemnation regardless of how you live your life. I have never understood this to be the case. Jesus Christ took upon Himself our sins and bore the punishment for them, but only on condition that we continue to obey His commandments, repenting as necessary. His Atonement ensures us that we will be reconciled to God, provided we endure to the end. It doesn't give an excuse to ignore everything He told us about how we should live our lives. It provides us with the blessing of being able to start over again whenever we mess up.

hi katzpur. yes- i believe that when i received jesus' atonement for my sin (rom.5:10,11) i received a new nature (jesus') 2 cor.:5:17 and am now reconciled to god(18) being placed in union with christ (rom.6:11...the word "through" in this verse is not correct it should have been 'in'). rom. 8:1 uses two present tense nouns 'there is now therefore no condemnation to them which are in christ jesus". on that premise sin is not a problem with him and i anylonger. that doesn't mean i will not still deal with it- its just not a problem. thanks for the chat.

Yes, but how will you deal with it? Are you saying that if you deal with it by shrugging it off and saying, "It doesn't matter. Jesus has already paid for that one, so I'm off the hook," that you will not be held accountable?

good morning. if i do not reckon (exercise faith in realm of gods reality) myself dead to sin as christ is (rom.6:10) i will shrug it off. but in my new nature and new strength (his) i walk after the spirit, not the flesh. my boundaries are no longer established by a list of do's & don'ts ( external) they are established by my new identity (internal) which are jesus' boundaries (1 jn.4:17- herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgement: because as he is, so are we in this world.) grace is not a license TO sin- its a license FROM sin. i wasn't able to resist the power of sin before but now i do in christ (rom.6:6) that is where true freedom is. have a great day- off to work

What you said in the opening statement is not totally accurate. Jesus did die for our sins (past, present and future) and there is no comdenation to those who believe and accept Jesus as Lord. But in an active relationship with God, the Bible tells us in 1 John 1:9, that "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. What it means is that we as Christians don't have a license to sin based on what Jesus did on the cross. We are saved under God's grace and it is His will that we grow spiritually. We should confess our sins when we do wrong and work towards turning away from that sin. There is an expectation in an open and loving relationship with God The Father through Christ Jesus that we confess our sins and seek forgiveness. That has nothing to do with salvation. It is a sign of obedience to God's command and honoring His grace.

do i 'lose' salvation everytime i sin and do not confess it seeking forgiveness? if thats the case i'm in trouble because i sin and don't know it for whatever reason. when i sin now, i do confess as the spirit brings conviction of the truth, yet to 'confess' in my understanding is to come into agreement with god concerning righteousness in christ. i choose life as i agree with god because then his life flows freely through me unhindered by a lie. god bless.

If you are able to resist sin 100% of the time, you are a lot better than any Christian I've ever known. I'm glad you at least acknowledge that grace is not a license to sin.

Confused one,
There are two gospels. One is the gospel of Grace, which comes from Paul, and the other one is the gospel of the kingdom of God from Yeshua. One represents the "bad seed" from the evil one, and the other represents the "good seed" from the "Son of Man". As per Matt 13:36-40, they will be interspersed until the end of the age. As per Matthew 13:41, if one chooses to "Commit Lawlessness", then one can look forward to being cast into the furnace of fire".
There is no compatibility between the gospel of "Grace" and the gospel of the kingdom of God. One is true and one is false.
Even the concept that the "New Testament", is the word of God, is a false premise. The canon of the New testament was established by Athanasius, the bishop of Alexandria, a crony of the beast with two horns like a lamb, Constantine the Great King of Rome, who established the Holy Roman Catholic Church, and determined their dogmas and creeds at the Council of Nicean. Nothing is holy about Constantine, his cronies, his murders, or his roman church, or the churches' daughters. As a Luther stated, his church is an imbodiment of Babylon the Great, and as Yeshua stated in Revelation, one must come out of Babylon, or drink of the wrath of God.
It is not the "many" that find the way to life, but the few. Yeshua states that the false prophets will come in sheep's clothing. It is not the one who says "lord, Lord" or those who perform miracles, but those who do the will "of My Father" will enter the kingdom of heaven. The "kingdom of heaven" is a kingdom of the heart, and is of the present.

I think that you have the answer in the fact that God saves who He want and that nobody comes to the savior unless God draws him to Him, you have been drawn to Jesus, Simon the sorcerer was draw to the power that he saw the Apostles impart on the people and worse, he thought of buying it with his money, There is a beautiful doctrine called Universalism or Universal salvation that I have discussed with several of it followers, it also believe in a contradiction of what the Lord said and what the Apostle Paul said about the new covenant in Jesus blood, man can deceive other men but he can’t deceive God, Simon had many people fooled that he was a believer, but was he? For starter he still believe in sorcery and thought that the Apostles were powerful sorcerers. My take on what the Apostle Paul taught is that Salvation is by faith
Rom 10:9
that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.
Rom 10:10
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This describes those that are in Christ.

Emiliano, do you believe God only draws selected individuals to Him or that He would like us all to come to Him?
