Hello, I'm new to these forums and thought I'd introduce myself. I'm from Georgia originally, and now living in Dallas, Texas. Growing up I was just your average white, Baptist kid. After we moved to Texas in my teen years I started getting into trouble, hanging out with the wrong crowd. I was about as wild as a young boy can be. We were pretty racist, and loved picking fights with non-whites. Then I ended up in big trouble. I was put on probation, and my stepdad stopped me from hanging out with my friends. He made some phone calls and got me a job landscaping with Mahmoud, a Yemeni immigrant. I hated the idea of course, working with a foriegner.
Mahmoud refused to let me give up, and he refused to let me keep to myself and avoid the mostly Yemeni crew I worked with. They treated me well, and I slowly, begrudgingly formed friendships with them all. I was supposed to be a Baptist, but we never went to church all that much, and I definitely wasn't vey religious. Mahmoud spoke to me often about Islam, and long story short I converted. It's been four years now since I discovered the beautiful truth of Islam. I am now a devout servant of Allah, glory and praise upon him. That's my story, pretty much, the short version anyway. I love to educate myself, and discuss and debate religion. This seems like a good place to do so.
