Hello to all :)

My name is Trevor. I am a sophomore in college studying Computer Information Systems. I came here after getting tired of some religion-specific forums, I wanted something that would encompass everything.

A little about me; I was raised devoutly Catholic, my Mom's family was Catholic but most of my Dad's family was non-religious including him. They eventually split and a number of years later he and his new wife (who was raised Southern Baptist) joined a church and he eventually became a devout Protestant. I started making the shift to Protestantism in my early teens but found I did not like much of what I was hearing, and I had lots of problems with people my age in the church. The ideas of being so different than Catholicism were alien to me. Really long story short, I began to lose faith in the system and while I attend church when I am back home from school I don't much believe in what I am hearing. I wouldn't say I am non-religious, I still feel like there is a strong religious message out there for me somewhere but I don't know where it is so I am hoping to learn a bit more on here. Thanks for having me and feel free to ask questions!

Welcome to RF :)

Please feel free to post in the Seekers DIR.

Why not post your religious views? Hopefully then we can suggest some paths that you may be close to. Did you try the belief-o-matic quiz? It's a starting point (albeit not a very decent one as it can oversimplify things) that you may find useful.

I just took it:

1. Neo-Pagan (100%)
2. Baha'i Faith (89%)
3. Mahayana Buddhism (89%)
4. New Age (83%)
5. Liberal Quakers (81%)
6. Unitarian Universalism (80%)
7. Reform Judaism (78%)
8. Sikhism (76%)
9. Jainism (72%)
10. Orthodox Judaism (71%)
11. Mainline to Liberal Christian Protestants (69%)
12. Theravada Buddhism (67%)
13. Hinduism (66%)
14. Islam (66%)
15. Orthodox Quaker (61%)
~~~
22. Mainline to Conservative Christian/Protestant (36%)
23. Roman Catholic (36%)
I guess I didn't realize I would rank so high on the Neo-Pagan part and Baha'i...very interesting. I guess you could say I have a very pagan outlook on some things. A quick run-down in my beliefs: I am not totally sure about "God", but if I would believe in him I would say that the gods of religions past all form his various parts and collectively make the omnipotent entity you see in Abrahamic religions. I am big on caring for planet Earth and I find a lot of interest in the occult. I tend to socially liberal but economically conservative but really I am open a large variety of ideas, although I guess I sound pretty pagan lol.
Thanks for the welcome everyone :)
