I answered this thread yesterday, but the 'guilty' bit did'nt register.
Why feel guilty about chocolate? - for example.:)

Good beer....I love trying all sorts of microbrews and imports. I'm ridiculously broke at the moment though, so I've only been drinking PBR. Last good beer I had was a Bell's Winter White. Yum!!

Oh, no! "Lost" is a guilty pleasure?

(And I bet, as a peanut- butter fan, you enjoyed Charlie's helping Claire get over her cravings for said taste treat?)
:) I was just disappointed that he didn't have any real peanut butter to share!

For me, I can say pickles, this site, and an expensive book.

Now the pickles, those bring on rather squishy problems, so I'm accutely aware that they are a guilty pleasure :p.

Oooops, I keep forgetting there are many people who've only seen either the TV show or the movie series. I grew up with the movie series, then turned to the show later in life.
I grew up on the movies too, and refused to watch the series because Christopher Lambert wasn't in it. "It's not Highlander without Connor"...although, having seen Endgame, I probably could have handled watching Duncan (and at last I understand how there managed to be two 'Highlanders' from the MacLeod clan). That boy certainly knows his way around a sword!

Methos is the oldest immortal in the series at about 5000 years old. Pretty much everyone in the "Highlander" verse thinks that he's a myth, especially the Watchers who study the immortals. Lately, he's managed to stay in hiding by becoming a Watcher, under the guise of the mortal Adam Pierson. One thing I love about him is that the job he undertook as a Watcher was to do research on that mythical immortal Methos.

I also love his interesting combination of catlike arrogance and self- depreciating humor. (He frequently wanders into Duncan MacCloud's flat and pirates his stuff.) Oddly enough for being so old, he seems to take life much less seriously than so many others in the "Highlander" verse, so he usually winds up with the best lines. (While searching through MacCloud's CD collection, full of classical composers, he whines "Why don't you have any Queen?")
See, now I'm going to have to see if I can find any of the series to rent to see such moments. Ooh...I think there was one tape at the video store I was at last week. :jiggy:

He also possesses one of the most interesting noses yet seen among mankind.
I just had to go find a pic to check that out. It is rather...large. :areyoucra

Back on topic, is having a fascination with interesting noses a guilty pleasure?

'Lookingformeaning' made me realize that R.F is one of my 'Guilty pleasures'. Yes, it is a pleasure (An addictive one at that), the guilt? - knowing that my family are fearful that I am getting mixed up in a 'cult', and spending time here instead of with them.
However, I make sure I give everyone 'time', and I realize that I ought to be grateful to them for being over-protective of me!

Tell them not to worry about us being a cult, we couldn't agree on what to believe if we wanted to. :biglaugh:

Hi Maize,

I've tried to let my family see some of the threads, I have tried hard to prove that R.F is not 'a cult; it is just that they worry about me which is their way of expressing love. Hitherto, I might well have ceased my involvement in R.F to please them. I suppose that I realize that they need to know that I can take care of myself!!!:)

What makes something a "guilty pleasure"?

Is it something that you feel bad after doing? Or is it just something that would be embarrased if people found out about?

I think it could really be either depending on th person.

Hey rivet! Is George behaving himself? He can be a handful.;)

Hanging out on RF is my guilty pleasure. I should be conscientiously studying now, but I'm hanging out here. :)

I concur that we would pretty much suck as a cult. "Okay, we are all agreed that-" "No, we're not!" If the cult revolved around eating doughnuts, on the other hand...

And see my helpful post about dressing up salad as RF members to take away your family's worries, Michel! I'm sure that'll allieve any concerns. *nods confidently to self*
