Does anybody know why it is that facial hair and hair on the head keeps growing longer and longer, but pubic hair and hair under the armpits only grows to a certain length and then apparently stops growing.

I've always wondered about that... Just thought I'd ask in case somebody knows the answer

It's the Sun that helps the hair on you head keep growing. You must have noticed the rate of growth increases after being out in the rain? Measure it yourself before and after rainfall and see. Science is cool and we learn something new every day.

For example, you can go 10 years without shaving your beard, and you're going to have a really long beard if you're a guy, however, you can go 10 years without shaving your armpits and it doesn't get that long.

If you have any information on this, do be so kind as to share... It's important to know such things

I wonder why, as I get older, hair thins on the top of my head and starts growing on my ears. My eyebrows are getting bigger too. Hair is growing in all places except where I want it to. It's even starting to turn gray.

That's not quite true. I have a mustache I never trim, but the mustache hairs themselves cap off after a certain length. I suspect the maximum mustache length varies from person to person.

I have my hair grown down to the end of my shoulder blades, it hasn't grown any for the last three years. I've been told different things like dried ends, genetics, ect.

I can exclude the dried ends, because hair isn't live and grow in the same sense that something like a skin cell would, and even fried hair grows. It may genetics though, but I really don't know.

I believe it is removed by elves when it gets too long, and in its place they plant a tiny seed that will grow a new hair. Sometimes they accidentally plant 2. I think they also have accidentally planted some in between my eyebrows.

I always wondered about it myself. Why do Christians have such a severe problem with men with long hair, when Jesus wore his hair long?

I have a friend who used to be able to tell you far more about hair growing than you will ever want or need to know...a barber by trade...a couple of years ago he had a stroke, and now remembers almost nothing about hair and haircuts...so I can't ask him to help out here...

Pubic hair stops growing due to the anagen cycle that causes hair to reach a certain point before falling out and being replaced by a new hair.

Some of these responses have been funny, but the bottom line is that the hairs, no matter the body part they are covering, are always growing, then they stop and fall out....with a new hair replacing the old.
