Half-naked animal rights activists brand each other with hot irons, and more.

Hello guys.

I quote:
"Activists at a demonstration in Paris sought to highlight animal abuse by burning themselves with an iron.
Determined animal activists went to extreme lengths by burning themselves with red hot irons in a bid to condemn animal abuse.
Shocking footage shows the half-naked activists in France lining up to be burnt as part of an attempt to condemn animal abuse, RT reports ."

Do you guys agree with this act to spread awareness?

I personally see and respect the thought behind it, at least.

It's voluntary and raises awareness. I don't have a problem with it.

No. This is a publicity stunt and I'm not seeing how getting third degree burns is anything more than a meaningless gesture in response to an industrialised system of animal cruelty. This sort of masochism will change nothing and is not an effective method of protest or getting social change. Whatever the intentions behind it, convincing people to voluntarily consent to a form of torture is not acceptable even as an act of protest. It makes me uneasy but not neccessarily for the reasons its intended to. (It makes me think of people getting branded during slavery actually more than animal cruelty).

Good point. Unless they're sterilising after each use and taking care to keep the scar clean during the healing process, then there's a good risk of infection.
If they really used a red hot branding iron (which I don't believe), it wouldn't need to be sterilized.
The real risk comes from the burn.
Those things are easily infected.

I think this may well be one of those moments that later in life (when they grow up), these people look back with embarrassment and say
"What was I thinking? " , while eating a burger.

Actually, I take that back. These people are beyond help.

They look young.
With age comes wisdom.....or at least regrets.
Burns can leave lasting problems.
I think of Carlos Hathcock.
His were more severe, but dang....burns should be avoided.
