Hamilton County (TX) May Install Ten Commandments Monument Outside Courthouse

Well, it's right up there with "In God we trust" written behind the judge in many courthouses, at least the ones I have been in and swearing on the Bible. What if you don't believe in the Bible? It seems to me that many people in the U.S. expect everyone in the U.S. to be Christians. They exclude people who are not Christian. I understand that Christianity is the highest percentage in the U.S. but that doesn't mean that everyone is Christian. Why should they expect everyone to go along with them? I never understand that. I thought we were a country dedicated to freedom of religion. That should mean all religions including not religious belief.
Absolutely. Too many Christians have embraced the USA as their own, and feel Christianity deserves to sit in vigil over the nation's judiciary and other aspects of its secular life. It's asinine of course, borne, I believe, from a need to shore up a nagging distrust in a relationship they know in their hearts is bogus.

It goes against our Constitution. Separation of church and state coming from the First Amendment and first stated by Thomas Jefferson in a letter. They are very good at making sure that the state does not involve itself in their churches but not as good at making sure that their churches don't involve themselves in the state. Can you imagine if all of the televangelists were audited by the IRS? Of course, our laws allow them to get away with too much.

Yeup just like reminded people daily of communist swine.
Am I supposed to be the "communist swine" in your little reminder? I can know you are a theist, and therefore prone to thinking that there is an authority on high that most everyone, if not everyone should respect the wishes of. If you don't think that, good - but also probably bad, because God kind of expects it of you, doesn't He? But you can't know that I claim "communism" as some positive thing, just based on the fact that I am an atheist. And, in fact, I don't - so go remind someone else of something else. You do no good here.

Not directed at you or anyone specifically. I know nothing about you. Just being a cheeky lil monkey.
