Thanks everyone! It's an honor to be a part of this forum, and one of a few places I can find enjoyment :)

BTW, some things that happened today:
79 CE- Mt Vesuvius erupts
410- Germanic tribes sack Rome
1572- 50,000-70,000 French protestants are killed
1814- The White House is burned down by British forces
1821- Mexico is granted independence from Spanish rule
1869- The waffle iron is first patented
1949- NATO went into effect
1954- The Communist Party is outlawed in the US
1991- Gorbachev resigns as leader of the Soviet Communist Party, Ukraine declares independence from the USSR
1992- Hurricane Andrew
2006- Pluto becomes a "dwarf planet"
