Happy Hanuman Jayanti April 15 2014, a day to crlebrate the Appearance of Hanuman!

Actually, the date will vary location to location, region to region. In some areas it will be the 14th for example. I plan to celebrate for 3 days 14th to 16th. One method used is when is a full moon day during that time in Chaitra. One local temple is having an event for the 14th from 6pm to 9pm including a "cradle ceremony". In Tamil Nadu there are regions that celebrate on the 21st of December 2014 this year!

Hard to keep track, whatever the date it is the date chosen to celebrate Hanuman's Appearance, but for me, it is the day when there is a local temple having an event for this!

Some fast or eat only certain foods on one day, but most it is temple, sometimes home puja, and prayers and worship, and probably red marked on the forehead.

Today my family went to the Hanuman temple in Delhi, outing for my mother where she used to go even 85 years earlier with her father (now going with her great-grandchildren). Tomorrow it will be too crowded. When they came back the younger one put a blanket on his head and said this is the mountain. He repeated what I tell him that when Hanuman had gone to get Sanjeevani, he had kept his mace in Lanka, since for the purpose he was going mace was not required. So the younger one says "I have left my mace (gadaa) in Lanka".

I am taking today off from work, and only thinking and doing for Hanumanji. I am thinking today is the day of strength, as reflected in Hanuman. And in being a servant to the higher. And being the best of diplomats, like Hanumanji. And being the greatest of loyalty like Hanuman.

Though I think today is not the best day to go to temple after about 9 months... Tamil New Year. It will be a mob scene. I'll wait for the pictures and/or videos on the temple website.
