The festive mood has already set-in for me! I already started to have Janmashtami plans! Tonight I will soak rice in little water, tomorrow morning I will have ground it to make into a paste for drawing Sri Krishna's feet and for drawing 'Kolam' (Rangoli without the colour) using the ground rice paste. When it dries, it will stay put without anyone walking on it. So that is for tomorrow. Then tomorrow I am to make a list of recipes to prepare (although I know what dishes I'm going to prepare already) and I will purchase those needed items for the recipe. I've already printed an 8 by 10 picture of Sri Krishna as a child eating laddoos and got it framed today, placed in the shrine.
On Tuesday, I will prepare 2 or 3 of the savory items in my list.
On Wednesday morning, after my usual cooking, I will have first a garland made for Sri Krishna with flowers from the local supermarket. Then at 11:00, I will start making the recipes - about 5 - 6 of them in all. In the evening, using the printout of Sri Krishna Sahasranama, I will arrange everything in front of Sri Krishna, recite the Sahasranama, recite 108 ashottara reciting the names of Sri Krishna offering him flower petals and do puja.
Thus ends my plan for Janmashtami!
I am eager to listen to what other members have in storage for their plans... :namaste
