On remembering the Biblical Passover of the Red Sea from Egypt to Sinai, this year I can't help but think of the Ever Given vessel straddling the Red Sea with Egypt on the one side and Sinai on the other.

Have a question. The Jewish health care facility I worked for extended the Passover regulations to an 8th day, an ancient custom, we were told, which guaranteed not cutting the days short due to lack of communication as to when it began.

Also if the Equinox occurs on the Sabbath (Saturday), is Passover celebrated on that day or the following Sabbath?

Passover is always celebrated on the 15th of Nisan. Because this must always be in the spring, there are occasionally leap years which add an additional month, thereby preventing Passover from happening in the summer.

Because all of this can be figured out ahead of time, Passover always happens after the equinox. It's almost always on the full moon. And it's not necessarily on the Sabbath (for example, last year it started on Wednesday night.).

It's not just the health care facility. Everywhere in the world that isn't Israel observes 8 days of Passover.
