Harris Called Out For Being A Communist

Seem's like even the liberals are looking at Harris in a differnt light. In a article in the Washington Post, columnist Catherine Rampell criticized Vice President Harris' proposal to implement federal price controls in order to stop "price gouging" on groceries.
She wrote:
"At best, this would lead to shortages, black markets and hoarding, among other distortions seen previous times countries tried to limit price growth by fiat," Rampell wrote. "(There’s a reason narrower ‘price gouging’ laws that exist in some U.S. states are rarely invoked.) At worst, it might accidentally raise prices."

"But more to the point: If your opponent claims you’re a ‘communist,’ maybe don’t start with an economic agenda that can (accurately) be labeled as federal price controls," she wrote. "We already have plenty of economic gibberish coming from the Republican presidential ticket. Do we really need more from the other side, too?"

Maybe the holiday is coming to an end for Harris when people start looking at her and remembering her failed attempt to run for President.

FDR had price controls. He wasn't a communist.

Maybe more like corporate media doing what corporate media does.

The New York Times Pitchbot is satire, for anyone unfamiliar with it.

When CNN and the Washington Post both blast her for this idea, you know it has to be bad. It will definitely lead to shortages if implemented.

Suddenly Republicans like the MSM? o_O These opinion pieces are based on details that they read into the proposals rather than any details that are actually there.

Rep. Moulton says price-gouging plan reveals ‘priorities’ of Harris administration

It is worth looking at the plan itself rather than the way Republicans and editorial boards are trying to frame it. Here is a list of highlights that Time published:

Kamala Harris Rolled Out An Ambitious Economic Plan. Here’s What’s In It

While light on details of how it would work, Harris’ proposal to impose the first-ever federal ban on price gouging in grocery stores is designed to draw voters’ attention. Harris said she would authorize the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to levy substantial fines against grocery chains that implement "excessive" price hikes. The campaign declined to share additional information, such as how Harris defines price gouging and excessive profits, and whether the proposal would require working with Congress to pass legislation.

“My plan will include new penalties for opportunistic companies that exploit crises and break the rules,” Harris said. “We will support smaller food businesses that are trying to play by the rules and get ahead. We will help the food industry become more competitive, because I believe competition is the lifeblood of our economy. More competition means lower prices for you and your families.”

Harris framed the measure as a response to the nearly 26% increase in grocery prices since 2019, which has left many American families struggling to manage their grocery budgets. But the idea of government intervention in grocery pricing has received a mixed response. While some progressive lawmakers praised the proposal, critics argue that price controls could lead to shortages and diminished supply, as companies might be less incentivized to stock and sell goods if their profits are capped.

Where are the details?

Read the post above yours. It was posted roughly a half hour before you asked to see the details. One thing to take away is that Harris's "plan" isn't a legislative proposal and is intentionally vague--like Trump's economic "plan". Neither candidate is going to propose detailed legislation, but the public still wants to know what their priorities will be. How do they plan to affect the daily lives of citizens, especially when it comes to family and individual economics?

One thing should be clear about Donald Trump. He does not have an economic plan. What he has is the traditional Republican strategy of trickle down economics--making rich people and corporations richer by cutting taxes on them, transferring the burden to lower income brackets, and doing away with government regulation of businesses. The effect is supposed to be that the increased wealth of individuals and corporations will trickle down to enrich ordinary citizens. This strategy has never worked, but it has led to a growing discrepancy in wealth between the rich and the poor. The lower and middle classes have suffered greatly under that approach

Harris is following the Democratic playbook of taxing wealthy individuals and corporations to grow the economic well-being of ordinary people. That means lowering costs for essentials such as health care, food, other consumer goods, and housing. Her intention to ban price gouging, especially in the food sector, lacks detail on how it will be implemented, but it tells us where she intends to attack the problem--targeting the large grocery chains whose profits have risen dramatically while people have struggled the most to find food products at affordable prices. The danger that many economists see there is that it could succeed in bringing about shortages, depending on how it is implemented. I think that Harris and her advisors will keep that danger in mind as they develop their proposals. If they don't, then she will probably end up being a one-term president. If the price of eggs is going up because of bird flu, then there is little she can do about that. If it is going up because a small number of producers and distributors can charge the maximum that the market will bear, then there are a variety of methods the government can use to combat that problem. Price controls aren't the only method.

Calling her a "communist" is just Trump's insult.
He prolly doesn't even know what the term means.
He knows only that it's an epithet.
However, her leaning in the direction of socialism
is disturbing, eg, price controls on food. (Along
with Biden's wanting national rent control.)

But at least she isn't a treasonous rapist who
staged a failed coup to over-turn an election.
And he promises no need to vote ever again
if he's elected.

Only if people panic for the toilet paper aisle again! LOL I still don't understand the logic behind that one.

Wow. People are presumably seriously calling Kamala a "communist".

Wow.
That's the least of what she's being called. I got curious and asked three sites to list everything Trump has called her: Google Gemini which cowardly refused to answer, OpenAI which listed two and Perplexity AI takes the win for this:

Based on the search results provided, here are the insults Donald Trump has directed at Kamala Harris:
  1. Trump said having Harris as president would be an "insult to our country"
  • He repeatedly mispronounced her name, stretching out each syllable in a mocking tone
  • Trump claimed "People don't like her" and "Nobody likes her"
  • He called her "not competent" despite her extensive experience
  • Trump said Harris is "further left than Crazy Bernie Sanders"
  • He mocked Harris's laugh and said she was "not a very good wordsmith"
  • Trump repeatedly called Harris "stupid"
  • He claimed "I am much better looking than her" and "I'm a better looking person than Kamala"
  • Trump has made gendered personal insults about Harris's appearance
  • He characterized Harris's nomination as a "coup"
It's important to note that many of these insults are personal attacks rather than policy-based criticisms. Trump's campaign has faced pressure to focus more on policy differences rather than personal insults, but he has continued to use this rhetoric in his rallies and public statements

I loved in a speech of his where he claimed that Harris was a socialist, a communist, and a fascist. Quite the trifecta.
